I decided to start watching Project Runway because of fashion. I would see the outfits worn on RuPauls Drag Race and be like "I wanna watch that but I am so over the RPDR formula and everything around it." So I decided to give this a shot and I absolutely adored it.
It was so fun to see these people compete and interact, as there were some BIG characters in this season, like, for example, Daniel Franco, Mario, Vanessa (legend), Nora, Robert, Austin Scarlett, Wendy Pepper and Kara Saun. Our winner, Jay, was also quite a fun character and gave the show a very fun vibe!
Some iconic moments were Daniel and Mario's downfalls, Nora and Kevin going wild at each other during a team challenge resulting in Nora having a complete meltdown after Vanessa started making fun of the situation, Wendy throwing Austin and Kevin under the bus in the team challenges and having a complete hero to villain arc on the season, Robert busting his head open on a night out and, finally, the Wendy/Kara Saun drama in the final episode along with the shoe drama with Kara Saun as well.
Regarding the fashion, it was clearly very much outdated. It was a 2004 show so the things they did in this season would probably not go trough as well today, cuz the looks have aged. Still it was fun to see how fashion was at the time and I enjoyed some of the looks. One that pops to my mind is Kara Saun's army inspired one. Also Jay's punk rock princess one, and Wendy's Banana Republic holiday dress.
As for results, there were a few judging decisions I found to be iffy. Ultimately I did think the winner was deserved, with Jay having a very decent season with no real duds and having the best collection out of the final 3. I was pulling for Kara Saun personally, but Jay deserved it very much.
I have started watching season 2 and was shocked to see fucking Santino Rice in it. Another season with big characters, although the cast isn't as endearing as season 1. These people seem a little more on the mean judgy side, and Andrae is already geting on my nerves. My early prediction for the winner is Chloe Dao. But ultimately, #TeamMarla .
