What exactly does 'working your ass off' in a game mean?

imageI've seen many plees from stars players along with many messages to keep them in a game whilst stating they have been 'working their ass off.' No pointing any fingers, I know most of us have done it. I know I posted in my plee in Stars 5 that I was 'trying really hard,' but what does this mean? Pming a storm? Begging and pleeding? How are we 'working our asses off' tengaged, how?
