American Idol S15 Power Rankings (Top 8) May 7, 2016
imageMy predictions were right and it was Avalon and Lee that we said goodbye to this week. There were four duets (one above the others), and some solid solos this week. So who ranks where? It gets shaken up again, here we go!

12. MacKenzie Bourg and Dalton Rapattoni- These two guys have been getting all the votes all season, but fell hard this week. This arrangement was a boring mess, and despite them being two great individual artists, this song played better to MacKenzie’s strengths, which was still pretty uninteresting in scope.

11. Lee Jean- Poor Lee. He really struggled with this song, and it felt very shaky and unfocused. His nerves took over, and he was definitely the right person to go home. He’s been a joy to watch this season, but his time was up, and for a performer as young as him, he should be proud.

10. Avalon Young- This performance was fine, but still not exciting enough for me to be her biggest fan. It was her time to go, so I’m not too sad to see her go. She went on a fun note, but an overall unexciting performance.

9. Tristan McIntosh and Lee Jean- I thought Lee did better than the judges gave him credit for. Tristan did fantastically, but definitely shined better than Lee. However, as for the song, they didn’t do anything unique with it. It was good, but like Harry said, “nothing special.”

8. Tristan McIntosh- This started fine, and her vocals are great, but the end was a little rough in some patches. Some of the high notes were a little off, and didn’t really excel for me. The emotion behind it is what she excelled at, she just didn’t make it unique enough for herself. Then again, it sounded fine, and she’s very manageable as an artist.

7. Trent Harmon- The judges liked this, but I wasn’t an incredible fan. It stayed in one place for most of the arrangement. The transition into the band was a little shaky, so I’m not sure. I think that Trent nailed the ending, but the beginning was slow, and uninteresting.

6. Dalton Rapattoni- To be completely honest, I have never been Team Dalton, and I really don’t love his voice. But his performance value is very good, and the ending was definitely a strong way to end it. The big notes were definitely the best parts, which he should stick with. This was heads and toes above last week’s performance, but he is still yet to convince me that he’s a winner.

5. Sonika Vaid and Avalon Young- These two singers sounded beautiful together. The song was good, but wasn’t super memorable by the end of the night. The harmonies were perfect, but their stage presence was somewhat lacking. Still good though.

4. Sonika Vaid- Sonika’s voice is stunning and  beautiful! She killed every note she sang, but she just needs that confidence onstage to really push her over the edge. Just like her duet, she seemed a little nervous and didn’t show enough of the star power. However, she was easily the strongest of the bottom three, and one of my favorite vocals of the night.

3. MacKenzie Bourg- MacKenzie knows his style, which is why he’s always successful. It’s getting a bit repetitive, but this performance, I’ll admit, had lots of passion that we don’t always hear from him (since “Roses”). I think he is one of the best at his style, and I have to applaud him on good song choice, and a very nice performance.

2. La’Porsha Renae- La’Porhsa brings it to every performance she does. This was fun, spunky, and vocally spot on. I realized that she relies on riffs a lot, but in the end, it’s just her style, and it works for her. She’s definitely the one to beat.

1. Trent Harmon and La’Porsha Renae- This duet was perfection. Their voices blended so well together. This was the first performance of the night, but definitely the most powerful, and kicked a lackluster round of duets on a good note.

Well, it’s clear that Trent and La’Porsha’s duet was the strongest part of the night, despite it coming right at the beginning of it. As for the rest of the night, everyone had their moments, and I think the big winners were MacKenzie and La’Porsha, with Sonika’s vocals slaying as well. The rest were good, but still had things that I didn’t love. As for who will go home? With no more judge's save, it's going to be up to America. I think Sonika did enough at the end of the night to pull herself out of the bottom three, so I'm going to go with who I think is going to have trouble with votes.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Tristan McIntosh

Survivor S32 Power Rankings (Top 13) May 7, 2016
imageLast week was a sad episode, seeing Debbie, Cydney, and Caleb go down. Luckily, Debbie and Cydney were okay, but poor Caleb was evacuated. Just when I said he was better on Survivor than Big Brother...I hope they bring him back (or put him on the Amazing Race with Tai!). Alecia also went home, but this episode was all about Caleb. She wouldn't have made it much further unless there was a swap...SPEAKING OF, it looks like there's going to be a merge or tribe switch up, so here are the rankings!

13. Joe Del Campo- Debbie was the only shot Joe had of sticking around. With a tribe swap or merge, Joe will probably be the one to go for being the "old man." I haven't really gotten much out of Joe, but especially if he's put with some younger people, he'll have trouble fitting in. He's also not a goat like Debbie, who can go all the way by being unlikable and easy to beat.

12. Debbie Wanner- Debbie had a good thing going on the Brain tribe, but with a switch up, all of her strategy may have went down the drain. However, unlike Joe, people could still see her as a goat and take her along for the ride.

11. Scot Pollard- I don't think Scot will go home, but because the Brawn tribe is in the minority, he will have to make some alliances, or he'll be blindsided. There's always a big threat who goes home before the merge.

10. Neal Gottlieb- Neal was at the top of my rankings last week, but this week, he may be in some trouble not having his brains to back him up. He isn't a huge challenge asset, and people get suspicions about Neal, which wouldn't be good for a tribe of new people. He will really have to earn trust, or people will cautiously take him out.

9. Aubry Bracco- Aubry should be fine, but she is probably the physically weakest of the bunch. There are bigger game players, however, so she's right in the middle for me.

8. Nick Maiorano- With a tribe of girls gunning for him, the tribe swap is coming at a perfect time for him. I think he'll be able to gain some relationships and allies in a newer setting.

7. Michele Fitzgerald- I'm grouping Michele, Julia, and Anna together, so here we go. We still haven't seen much of Michele, but maybe with a tribe swap, she'll be featured more, and try to make some of her own moves instead of Anna making the moves for her. She's someone who can be an asset on any tribe she's on.

6. Julia Sokolowski- Julia is adorable, and has super potential. I think she'll mesh well with any tribe she's on, and isn't weak enough to be sent home for. She'll be fine, I think.

5. Anna Khait- Rounding out the Beauty girls trio is Anna. She has the best strategy of the three, but the three Beauty girls should all be okay. They're not seen as physically weak, but not as the strongest either, and they seem to bond well with most people. I think the Beauty tribe is safe, no matter what team they're on.

4. Peter Baggenstos- Peter was beneficial in winning challenges last episode. Peter is one of the best challenge assets, and a tribe swap will be beneficial for him to really start over and try to fix his attitude. If he proves to be an asset in challenges, his tribe will keep him. It's looking good for Peter until the merge.

3. Cydney Gillon- After a tough week last week, people won't send Cydney home right away. She is in the minority, but easy to make alliances with. She may be a Brawn, but I think people will still want to work with her. She's been a favorite of mine for weeks now, so I hope she keeps it up and doesn't get evacuated before going home.

2. Kyle Jason- With a tribe switch up, the Brawn are in the minority, but Jason has an idol. This may be bad news for Scot, but Jason is safe as long as he has the idol.

1. Tai Trang- The only people who are 100% safe are Jason and Tai, for the sake of having idols. But Tai is also super likable, and has the biggest heart of any contestant we've seen recently on this show. He may not win, but he has an Idol, and saw one of his best friends go home in a shocking fashion, so I'm giving him the award of top of the list today. Tai is one of a kind, and will go far with that Idol. (Also, I made him and Caleb the picture as a toast to their amazing bond, that I'm sure we'll all miss).

With Caleb gone, Tai may seem on his own, but there's an Idol in his pocket, and he's the safest there is right now. As for the rest, I think the big threats should be okay for a few more weeks so they can win challenges, leaving the older, weaker people. And between the two oldest, there is one who won't be seen as a goat, and may be going home this week.

Going Home- Joe Del Campo

Hell's Kitchen S15 Power Rankings (Top 9) May 7, 2016
imageWell, Joe being a dark horse was a bit far-fetched, but although he did suck in the challenge, his team didn't lose. The red team was a mess, with only two chefs actually pulling through (one of whom I thought would be going home this week). The Blue Team, without Joe, should be incredibly strong, so here are the Power Rankings going into the Top 9.

9. Jackie Fuchs- Wow. Only three months of cooking? Explains a lot. She just isn't ready to be the head chef, and it looks like stuff is going to go down in the red kitchen with Jackie. I'd be surprised if she made Black Jackets.

8. Ashley Nickell- As everybody knows, I'm a huge Ashley fan. But her name is somehow always tossed around. Some reason, her team doesn't consider her the strongest, and I'm worried that this may be bad news for her down the line.

7. Jared Bobkin- I think the Blue Team is solid, but lately, Jared has gotten on my nerves. He didn't have an awful service this time, but became too angry, yelling at everyone in the kitchen like he ruled the place. Ramsay wants a leader, but also someone who people are going to want to work with. I wouldn't wanna work with Jared.

6. Ariel Malone- Ariel had an awful service this week, but I think it may just be a one time thing. Then again, Jared's been slipping, so maybe Ariel has it coming for her.

5. Manda Palomino- Manda didn't crash and burn, and is slowly working her way back. She isn't one of the top dogs yet, but she did enough to get a higher ranking on the list.

4. Chad Gelso- I liked Chad in the beginning, had my doubts later on, and now, he's beginning to excel. Going on the Red Team is a blessing for Chad in this game. He did a great job this week, and I hope he can hang in there, and will remain there for a while.

3. Frank Cala- Frank is by no means my favorite (never has been), but he's also one of few who has NEVER been on the radar. So, he's looking solid for the rest of the competition. Unfortunately, he may even make it to the finale. Groans.

2. Kristin Barone- Kristin would be number one (she led that kitchen with Chad), but there is a fight coming with her and Jackie. I don't see this ruining her game, but it may weaken it. For that reason, she's just shy of the top spot.

1. Dannie Harrison- Just like Chad, Dannie going to the blue team has been the best thing for her game. I am excited that Dannie is finally getting time to shine. I think she proved that this team is good for her, and I just don't see the Blue Team losing now that Joe is gone. Everyone on Blue is strong, and their weakest are only by attitude.

The Blue Team should be solid, and I wouldn't be surprised if all four of them get Black Jackets. As for the Red Team, Kristin and Ariel are clearly the favorites, but Chad also proved a lot in the last service, and I think Ashley is still someone to root for. This leaves one person, who we all want to see go home...

Going Home- Jackie Fuchs

The Amazing Race S28 Power Rankings (Top 8) May 7, 2016
imageI was off with having the Models in spot 5, and I wish they could've stuck around for longer. As for the top teams, it continues to be the same people on top but everyone made the mat at the same time, making this week a complete mix up, with no one in dead last.

8. Sheri & Cole (Mother/Son)- Now that everyone is at the same playing level, I think it'll be these two who will go home. They just seem to be following everyone else, and aren't making enough decisions for themselves.

7. Scott & Blair (Father/Daughter)- They're lovely to watch, and Blair's new romance is great, so I think they may stick around. Then again, they continue to stick around the bottom of the pack, and if the Models weren't an issue, it would've been them going home. I think Blair's story arc is developing, so I don't see them losing.

6. Erin & Joslyn (Best Friends)- The only all female team left gives them their only promising news. Otherwise, they're just not the strongest, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go.

5. Zach & Rachel (Newlyweds)- They are still just in the middle of the pack. I like them and their chemistry, but they haven't really proved themselves yet. A solid 5th place would be where I'd rank them.

4. Tyler & Korey (Best Friends)- The competition seems to show the same Top 4 throughout, but Tyler & Korey were on and off this episode. Though they figured out the flags, they also screwed up one of the flags, which almost set them back. They also shut out a lot of other teams. In order to go forward, they'll need to learn to work with others more. Also, saying "Blairdie" over and over gets annoying eventually.

3. Dana & Matt (Engaged Choreographers)- Since they won in week 1, they haven't really shown the same contender status, but they still remain in the top, so I don't think they'll go home yet. It will become clearer as it goes on.

2. Kurt & Brodie (Pro Frisbee Players)- They have been in the top, but this leg they only won because they outran everyone at the last minute. Being athletes, it's expected, so I wasn't too impressed, but they're still top dogs.

1. Burnie & Ashley (Dating Gamers)- Because of the even playing field right now, I figured I'd give the highest odds to Burnie and Ashley. They've been near the top for some time, so maybe this leg will be the one they win!

So, this is a complete up in the air decision. All the teams are at an even spot right now at the mat, so it could be anyone.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Sheri & Cole

Top Chef S13 Power Rankings (Top 4) May 7, 2016
imageSo, there are three left: Marjorie, Isaac, and Jeremy. But then again, there's also someone else coming back from Last Chance Kitchen, and it's either Amar, Carl, or believe it or not, Jason. So, for this case, I'm ranking 6 contestants in four spots. Here we go!

4. Isaac Toups- Comparatively to the rest of the competition, Isaac just isn't the strongest. He hasn't won as many challenges as the others, and despite being a fan favorite, he is probably the weakest chef here unfortunately. I like Isaac, and would love to see him win an underdog-style way. But, I think he'll come just short of the prize.

3. Marjorie Meek-Bradley- Marjorie wasn't perfect this episode, but she still made it through. Marjorie has been pretty consistent, but just hasn't shown that "Top Chef" like confidence. She seems to always be doubting herself. I hope she can overcome it here in the long stretch, but it may be too little too late. She's a great chef, now she just needs to polishing.

2. Jason Stratton/Amar Santana/Carl Dooley- One of these three guys is coming back. I never really liked Jason, but for him to win all of these LCC battles is super impressive, and promising. As for Amar, I thought his time was cut short, and he deserved to stay. Carl had a weak episode last time around, but I still loved Carl. I'd be most happy to see Amar back, but no matter who comes back in, it'll be one hell of a battle.

1. Jeremy Ford- Jeremy wrecked the episode, and totally claimed back his frontrunner status. This guy is the real deal, and in the final stretch, I think he'll pull it through.

Well, we're down to 3 (6? 4?) chefs! Who will win? I'm not sure. Who will go home next? I'm really not sure. So, I think it's going to be the person who hasn't been on top the whole time, and who I see going home sooner than the rest.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Isaac Toups
