it's important to note one thing. somebody saying they'll harm themselves if you dont do ___ is JUST as manipulative and abusive as them saying they'll hurt YOU if you don't do something. both involve violence; one just uses fear while the other uses guilt and empathy. if somebody is trying to manipulate you by saying they'll hurt themselves, you don't owe them anything and it's better to get away from that toxicity for the sake of your own health.

if they actually do something to themselves, it would NOT be your fault. you're not responsible for their life and can't help them when they need professional mental help.

even IF we were to play devils advocate and say that people were wrong for sending anything to an older person (which i disagree with)... that person is still a predator? you can spin it however you want, but the fact is that they were trying to solicit messages or photos from minors. it doesn't matter if it succeeded or not.

by taking your attention away from the person preying on minors and instead blaming minors for feeding into it, you're not only contributing to a very toxic mentality and culture that scares victims off from sharing their stories in the first place, you're PROTECTING the predator in question. you can say ''oh i think they're wrong too'' all you want, but the fact is, you're crucifying the minor, not them. using whataboutism against victims is why so many abusers get away with their actions.

yall will call someone an sjw for saying rape culture exists Aug 2, 2018
yet at the same time you'll see a pedophile be publicly scrutinized or punished and your first thought goes to finding a way to blame their victim. slightly different situations but still correlated (rape vs pedophilia), but the exact same reaction / thought pattern. you're honestly vile if you have EVIDENCE that someone is a sexual predator, let alone to a minor, and you still try to divert to blaming their victim(s)
