People need to stop letting power get to their heads. Case in point:
I'm currently involved in my second show of this year. My first show, I was essentially #4 on the totem pole during rehearsals (for theatre people, assistant stage manager). The stage manager (#3 on the totem pole beneath the directors and assistant directors) had a very inflated ego and basically made me do everything so she could sit back during rehearsals and talk to her friends.
Now this show, I'm working with this same girl except she's now #4 on the totem pole and I'm #5 (Props master). So I would say I have a pretty good knowledge of what a #4 should be doing in rehearsals, being that I've been one already. However, I'm getting told that its my job to keep track of where actors are moving on the stage and what side they come in on at any given moment.
Like bitch no. I'll tell you where a prop comes on and who brings it on. Because that's my job. Don't ask me what the fucking actors are doing because I don't give a shit as long as they have their damn props. Its a #4's job to keep track of blocking and shit, just like I had to do last semester when I was in that position.
I guess the message I'm trying to say is learn your place before someone puts you in it.
