people who posted porn should not be banned. technically at the time of them posting porn biodork had said it was allowed. regardless of what he was doing to the site that doesnt matter he still had power he still had the role and place to say that it was allowed . people where just following what one of your most trusted moderator was saying was fine .they should legally be given another chance because to them they have two sets of conflicting information maybe it was not the right choice to make but regardless it was one that at the time was in the rules of a MODERATOR.

Comments

The reason they get banned is because people younger than 16 are on the site so by law he has too

...this is retarded. Anyone who would believe that is also beyond stupid.
If someone told you that you could jump off a cliff and survive, would you, because technically, at the time of making the statement, the stater was in a semi-respectable position?

lonlee i know but some people dont think if they see a moderator posting that it is now allowed who are they to argue it isnt there fault the rules got changed by a rogue mod :) how where they to know well most probaby did but theres no proof off that either

zurks thats a completly different scenario :) people are allowed to jump of cliffs all they want theres no rules against it . a better example would be if a mayor (respectble figure with authority) said looting is now allowed people would for sure do it . there are laws against looting but if someone of a position said it was allowed it would happen

SP4RROW - your reasoning is still flawed in your message to lonlee
1) rules do not override common sense
2) you would have to be blind to not notice that said moderator was no longer acting in the site's interests
3) Ignorance of the law is not a defence. It's the internet, but the same principle should apply.

but zurks 1) it may not over ride common sense however if the rules say it is allowed it is allowed you cant punish someone for abiding to the rules no matter who set them
2)say someones just been linked tot he blog saying its allowed. they  may not have been online and just came back and thought ill join in then as most people do follow the populus. also regardless of whether he was acting in the sites intrests does not matter at the time he was still a moderator .
3)the smae principal should apply i agree i do think they deserve a punishment but perm bans is not fair they wernt at the time of the blogs going against the rules to there knowledge

I still don't think stupidity is a valid defence against anything. Your reasoning is severely flawed, instead of apportioning blame, people should take responsibility for their actions.

Okay, so you are saying, that I don't log on for a few minutes/hours/days, and see a blog saying that it's okay to post porn. By some miracle, I also don't notice that half the site is banned, and the constant stream of blogs reporting it, and decide to post porn. At this point, I should be asking, WHY I'm doing that, WHAT I will gain from doing that, and HOW it will impact me/others.

Lets see: Why - because I am clearly stupid? why would I want to post porn on a reality tv based site?
What - I don't know, am I into some freaky kinky group sex shit now?>??
How - Honestly, I don't even know...

zurks im not saying its clever or big or anything lik that just pointing out the loop hole of it wasnt technically at the time against the rules because whether or not it was just a blog saying it that blog was made by a valid moderator rogue or not . i think it was a stupid thing to do and by no meens agree with it but technically the bans re unjust if you look at the technicalities . i also see no matter what you are not going to listen to what im saying because your set in a mind frame and you seem like the type of person that once set in a mind frame will try and pick flawes in what other people say to try and make yourself right . im not going to argue with you anymore you dont agree with me just leave it at that i was merley pointing out a loophole to the bans

sp4rrow, point taken. I think regular rules would still apply because there would be no or little incentive or reason for moderation to excuse it, so if someone made a death threat, they would get a regular ban, etc. Unless you didn't mean just porn? I don't think that I am in a set mind-frame, I try to look at an argument from different angles and pick out the different points. I can see small offences being waived or ignored temporarily but not something so big or serious as porn, otherwise there would be no way to maintain order. Plus, while Bio may have said it's okay, the tengaged TOS as the bottom of the page stayed the same. Good luck getting a response to your mail :)
