After the season 6 finale are you:

-Even MORE engrossed in the show
-Equally in love
-Slightly (or more) turned off by the show

I know some people who literally never want to watch the show ever again because they feel cheated by the finale. Like idk if that is a necessary reaction but a wanna see if people AGREE

Personally I'm equally / possibly even more in love. I'm a sucker for cliffhangers tho oop

I want to watch it even more now

I'm addicted to the show and am way to invested to stop watching but I am furious with the way they handled this season.

It was great in some episodes but the Negan cliffhanger and the multiple Glenn fakeouts were so annoying.

JourdanBabyXoXo loves you =']

gezyg33 tbh I kind of agree that it seems like they won't really kill off a major character because our beloved cast seems to be having an increasingly large lifespan before they actually kill someone off. It's weird cuz I don't want anyone to die but the emotion of the show will be gone if I can't expect anyone and everyone to die all the time.

xRAIN_shooter the Glenn fake-out thing was deffo getting out of hand; I enjoyed the first one but after that I would rather they put my emotions toward the threat of someone ELSE dying. Not to mention Glenn was voted by a lot of critics as a stale character who needed to die so I feel like this was literally just the writers giving a massive middle finger to all the Glenn haters LOL which is amusing but it hurt the show. I feel like they kind of expected the Negan thing to become a big six month game where everyone is excited and debating who died, but there was prob a lot more backlash than they expected and it was a low key failure = [

I'm less intrigued because it seems repetitive and predictable, but I'm still going to watch it :)

My main issue with all the cliff hangers this season is they weren't really cliff hangers.

Like we knew SOMETHING happened and all the characters knew what happened. The writers basically said "fuck you" to the fans and used concealing CAMERA ANGLES on purpose to hide what had happened from fans.

This was done with Carol in episode 15, multiple times with Glenn, with Daryl when Dwight shot him and finally with the whole Negan thing. It isn't like a plot cliff hanger they are literally just not showing what is happening to piss people off. Idk if I explained that well but it was definitely a plague on S6

Nah you explained it perfectly, and you’re actually shedding light on some of the underlying flaws for me. Now that you mention it the camera angle thing really is just the producers taking our eyes and not letting us see what we should be seeing, and that kind of helplessness that this puts on the viewers is probably one of the driving factors of the backlash. Like, take a look at any of the fundamental forms of art like fiction, drawing, music, dance, etc, which require the bare minimum of “equipment” (literally just paper or ears or eyes) and NONE of them have the kinds of flashy gimmicks like concealing camera angles. Making a cliff hanger or hiding something from the viewer, or tricking the viewer’s expectations of the art actually has to be done with true artistic technique, not just “oh we’re gonna pan the camera away from the action so you can’t see hurr durr”.

And not only that but like you said, having the characters know something that we don’t is kind of a disassociation from them. We’re used to living alongside them and experiencing the world through their eyes, which makes the show interesting cuz we have people to relate to within the context of the show. But now the viewers don’t really have that same emotional relationship with the characters because we’re no longer on an even playing field. =/ This is pretty much the first convo I’ve had since the finale so you’re making a lot of good points that I failed to realize in the moment.

(Also like what even happened between the Daryl x Dwight thing? Like there was a gunshot and blood splatter but like what even happened. Was Daryl wounded or something bc I didn’t even notice :x )

Soz I write way too much =[

You explained it better than I did. The problem isn't the cliffhanger itself it is the way that Season 6 was constantly using cheap tricks like camera angle to hide what was actually happening on screen. It definitely takes away from the overall experience and the fact that this was done SO MANY TIMES in season 6 makes it all the more unforgivable.

And Dwight shot Daryl and the shoulder and that is all we know. It was another stupid moment in Season 6 that served no purpose other than to be another cheap camera angle born cliffhanger. It had no affect on the finale at all and I doubt it will ever be brought up again except for maybe a one off moment in Season 7.

It's a shame because Season 6 had some great moments that are like real high points for the series but the camera angle thing really brings down the appeal by a lot.

LOL OK LIKE I THOUGHT I WAS DUMB AND MISSED SOMETHING IMPORTANT
and ugh they did a similar thing at the end of the mid season finale with Sam saying "mom" and noise. Like everyone and their mom thought this would've actually been something important in the beginning of ep 9 but instead this played into nothing and the end of ep 8 was rendered useless (and then 30 minutes later Sam just gets half them killed anyway). This one deffo wasn't as bad as the blood-splatter-that-led-to-nowhere, but it still was unneeded. idk I feel like this was my biggest gripe with season 6 because there were so many endings that led to nothing.

That being said S6 had some amazing episodes and I thought the character building was better this season than any of the others (I think?), so all my complaints aside TWD is still like my ~#2 show on TV
