So to begin with I don't think I've ever finished a Survivor season beginning to end. I was looking for a show to watch on Hulu the other night and decided to start on Survivor S1 and review every season from the series. To clarify I'm not reviewing every episode but will give my thought's on my favorite parts of the season.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: This being the first season, it definitely was very predictable with Rich basically running the whole season. The other members of the cast I liked but they never really tried to stop the main 4 alliance of Rudy, Kelly, Rich and Sue. There was a couple of times where I thought maybe the power would shift but it was the 4 person crew all the way through. Kelly showed signs of maybe turning when it came down to the final 7 but once Gervase was eliminated I knew there was no chance for the people from Tagi tribe winning. For the majority of the season I liked the people from the Tagi tribe much more than the people from the Pagong tribe. If Tagi would've stuck together from the beginning we could've saw people like Colleen or Jenna winning the season. By the time it was F3 I thought for sure Rich was going to be the final member of the jury, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Kelly bring him instead of Rudy. Either way I think that Kelly would've lost this season, even though Greg was the swing vote and voted based on Kelly and Rich choosing a number between 1-10, with Rich being closer. I really hope I never see something like this ever again being a swing vote in deciding who gets a million dollars...
FINAL THOUGHTS: Rich played this game really well and was smart all the way through. Although Kelly won all those immunity challenges to get there, Rich didn't necessarily need the immunity having Rudy under his arm the whole time. My favorite player by far was Gervase, he was a comp beast(when it didn't come to swimming lol) and I really hope he comes back for another season. My least favorite player was Sue, she just pissed me off the whole time for some reason. I will be ranking every season once I'm done with them all, but to begin with I will give this season of Survivor a 5/10. This will basically be the baseline for all the other seasons.I'll be starting season 2 tonight!
