Let's get things "straight" here

Apparently there has been a lot of hype lately on the Tengaged Blogs abut gays. But not just gays in general, about their web rights and the controversy around that.

I am 13 years old and I am openly gay. I am proud of who I am and I am not afraid to speak my mind and be open on the web about my homosexuality. Life is extremely tough for me. I've been hiding my feelings from my parents for 2 years now... And it only gets harder as time ticks by. And even if I wasn't gay, my home life is still shittier than the average American. I can't just jump on a laptop or turn a TV on my room or text my friends. Partly because 1) I don't have a laptop and whenever I log in on my com my account has time limits and restrictions 2) I only have 1 TV in my house so it's a war every night to see who gets it 3) I don't even have a phone. Instead, I have to wait till my parents go to sleep (10pm-12am at times) to sneak my iPod and play till 3am. I rarely get much sleep.

I believe that there are boundaries between gay people and straight people. Everyone has different emotion levels and some may be more sensitive to comments than the next guy. Personally, I am a sensitive person in reality but I can take a couple of jokes here and there on Tengaged! And other sites too! And about 90% of the time when people make a comment that may be offensive to gays, they are not even aware that a gay is in their fastings or wherever else it takes place. So it's not always intentional. And the other 10% of the time, people may be joking or just trying to put a smile on someone's face. Even though a smile on a person's face may cause another one to cry, this is the reality of things. I don't think that some comments should be said though.

However, under no circumstance do I believe that gays deserve more rights and should have special treatment compared to staright people. We are who we are. And there is nothing we can do (or we want to do) to change ourselves one bit. Liking the same sex for some people, is just like eating. It's something that they do and that they cannot change!

But what sickens me, is when people purposely attack the gay community to hurt someone's feelings. Although there people that disagree and do not like the way we live our lives, they still have no right to attack us for no particular reason!

Now, to address another issue, there has been controversy over a gay Tengaged member. Honestly, I do not know 100% of the situation. But all I do know, is that this person is saying that the word "faggot" cannot be used but "retard" can or something like that.

The word "retard" is offensive to another group of humans, autistic children! And nobody under any circumstances should say that word! I don't think "faggot" is a polite or acceptable word either, but the word "retard" is down-right cruel and hurtful. Instead of saying "retard" you can try expressing your feelings by using more playful words and joking around.

In conclusion, everybody has equal rights, no matter who they are. And I'm hoping that this blog cleared up some people's minds about that!
