donaam been a katarina main since season 4
started playing akali and diana in season 5, i've been through all of their hardest nerfs with them and still havent given up
donaam boots, hextech, rabcap and rylai are core for me and i just pick the other two depending on the game, the enemies had three squeeshies so i grabbed the purple thingy to do more burst damage and instantly kill them, and banshee's bc warwick
katarinaducouteau magic pen works best on her because her damage is entirely magic (despite some ad scaling)
plus her base damage is really high already so stacking AP is almost a waste
the only way to survive a katarina is with some magic resist, so void staff and maybe even a morello should be core after gunblade! I also like zhonyas for a quick little pause mid fight where i can hopefully pick up a reset and keep going after

i agree with all of that except that part: "katarina is almost entirely AP"
she is literally half-AP and half-AD, and she has 4(i think?) abilities scaling with AP and 3 with AD. her core ability, a.k.a. her passive, scales with AD better i think? not very sure
this is why when i go for hextech i first get the cutlass which gives me some AD and lifesteal and after that I go for the ap part
