Winning in itself is 100% social game. Getting to the finals would be the unnommed strategy, but to go unnommed you almost always have to create a flavor. The biggest thing I think is to just be adaptable... don't create a strategy day 1 and feel like you have to stick with it. Work with your enemies :p each game is different so it's hard to say.
