It’s definitely safer to not use overall
Typically I say if you are not nommed and have veto, don’t use it
If you are nommed at F5 and have veto, talk to the two voters and have them give you 3rd without you using veto. This drastically decreases the chance that the surviving nom will get 1st and ruin the charity
