The bottom 3. Your songs impressed me the least, which means that mathboy9, ManniBoi, and FromAWindow, you three had my favorite songs this week, and one of you will win the LAST immunity of the season. Who will it be? Let’s get into these critiques in order of submission.
Mathboy9 - “Tear The House Up” by Hervé & Zebra Katz
Oh this was really fun! His verses were absolutely serving. This type of song makes me wish that we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic so I can just get wild to this song. The beat was banging and the verses killed, although I wish the chorus wasn’t so repetitive. However, this song just served it so hard to you that I couldn’t help but to get sucked in. Great job with this song, I bopped the whole time.
ManniBoi - “Fireflies” by Owl City
THIS. MOTHERFUCKING. SONG. I don’t know if you (or tbh anyone in this game) knows this about me, but back in 2010 or so I was the ultimate Owl City STAN. He was one of the first concerts I ever went to, and I was genuinely obsessed with him. His music now is pretty much Christian pop which is really weird and gross, but this song made me OBSESSED with him. The lyrics in this song I will admit are kinda bad and dumb and have no meaning, but once the second chorus hits you knew that you were in the presence of a BOP. I really have repressed this phase of my life for so long, but I can’t lie and say that I still love this song to death. I wish you went with a less obvious pick than the one song most regular people know him for (aside from that awful collab with Carly Rae), but I will always have a soft spot for this song no matter what.
FromAWindow - GUY.exe by SUPERFRUIT
Oh wow… This song was really serving it for me. The moment it began I was very intrigued. It feels very 80s, but not fully cheesy like some 80s songs were. I was very intrigued by pretty much everything about this song. The chorus was my favorite part about this song, it was really strong and catchy. Everything about this song was really so infectious, and I had a great time with this one. You really hit a home run with this song (yeah I’m using sports metaphors since this is a MENS’ round).

FromAWindow! This song really took me by surprise, it’s honestly been one of my favorite songs I’ve heard so far in this competition. Congratulations on winning the FINAL immunity of the season, very well deserved.

Turkeylover - “Downtown Life” by Grandma
This was kinda boring if I’m being honest. I don’t really know what to think of this song if I’m being quite honest. I was here for the incredibly deep vocals in the bridge, they were kinda haunting and reminded me of some cheesy 80s style vocals but in a good way. When the chorus hit I was just kinda underwhelmed. It didn’t really enhance the song at all, and the higher voice was just nothing that spectacular. You’ve been excelling up until this week, and I think I just expected a product better than this. I wasn’t too impressed with this song.
Irelia - “Lost” by Frank Ocean
I didn’t mind this song. It has a very nice vibe to it, and I was here for the ride. I didn’t necessarily hate this song, but my biggest complaint about it is that it wasn’t fully keeping my attention. Some of the lyrics really grabbed my attention, but musically this song just passed me by. This is the definition of middle of the road for me, and as we get further into this competition, that’s not gonna cut it I’m afraid.
Letal - “Mystery of Love” by Sufjan Stevens
I will admit that Sufjan does have a very pretty and angelic voice. If I’m being honest though, a lot of his music doesn’t resonate with me. It’s kinda boring and unappealing for me. I don’t care for his whispering vocals, like I get that’s his brand and all but it’s not something I would actively be searching for. His music kinda just makes me wanna fall asleep, as this song doesn’t really go anywhere. Not a fan I’m afraid.
