Sixty Seconds. Sixty Seconds is how much they give me until I rip people’s guts open and slice their head off. I remember like it was yesterday. When I was training and got a perfect 12. I was going to win this. I had to, even if it meant killing her.
“Ten, Nine, Eight” booms the speakers counting down. The speakers count down to one and I’ m off, I run to the cornucopia, at the cornucopia a District 5 boy named Derek grabs a sword and swings at me. I dodged
Derek and I have befriended during the training. He asked me for an alliance with the careers. Apparently he thinks he can beat me and win this stupid game that the capitol makes us play.
“I thought we were allies!” I cried.
“You thought wrong!” Derek exclaimed.
Derek raised his sword and tries to swing it at me. But then he falls to the ground. Then I see the arrow ledged into his back. Derek was dead. The person who killed him I could see. She had brown hair and brown eyes. It was Rachael.
“Thanks Rachael” I say, “Killed anyone else?” I ask.
“One other person besides this rat of a person, he thinks he fooled you Hunter, and well he doesn’t think anymore!” Rachael exclaims.
“Let’s go to the woods before we get spotted and have another Derek on our hands” I explain.
We run into the woods and sat camp. Rachael had gathered some wood to make a fire. Some say it will be dangerous because people will come towards you. But I know that if some tries to mess with us they are going to end up like Derek.
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom bellows the cannons. The bloodbaths are over. Five of the twenty-four people are dead. Derek was one of them.
It get’s toward night and the capitol anthem starts to play. Then I see the Capitol Seal floating in the sky. If show the people that are dead.
The people that were dead started at District 5, I see Derek with a fierce look. Not so fierce now. Another District 5 tribute is show. This one was named Josephine. He was unaware on how she died. Along with those two a District 7 boy named Storm got killed. There was also the girl from District 8, named Cho. That meant one more. The girl from District 9, Gabrielle, was the last victim of the night.
“Shame, I thought we could’ve killed more” Rachael sighed.
“Yeah, five is really a short amount of tributes gone during the bloodbaths” I reply.
Rachael and I decide to go to sleep.
