Round 8 required 2 submissions. First, a submission falling under any theme we've done this season, with the goal of perfecting that theme. Second, a remake/cover of any song, again with the goal of the perfecting of that song in mind.
🎤 A Little Wicked / Valerie Broussard (Villain Theme)
- Honestly...this song was AMAZING as an opener to this week. I liked the vibe a little bit to start but the repetition was a little concerning at first, but as the song was building up I liked it more and more. When the chorus arrived, my jaw actually dropped. You perfected the FUCK out of the villain theme! This would have hands down won. As soon as my awe of the chorus wore off, I added the song to my playlist already like halfway through. Great vocals, great music, great lyrics other than just a little much repetition.
🎤 Gloria / Laura Branigan
- I have to admit this submission did let me down a little bit, disco and other oldie music isn't really in my wheelhouse. Objectively, her vocals are good. The rhythm is pretty decent too but the music itself is just not pleasant to my ears. Lyrically, this just seemed very middle of the road to me.
🎤 Santé / Stromae (International)
- Oooo a new Stromae song. I like Stromae, I'm struggling a little bit with how I feel about some of the rap style delivery here. HOWEVER...I really enjoyed the music, it was super refreshing, and I loved his delivery of the refrain which was more typical for him, or at least his songs that I know and like.
🎤 Fast Car / Jonas Blue & Dakota
- This song was very interesting. I wish the vocals were more clear cuz I had a hard time understanding. I don't have anything solid to say about this song, it was just very...there.
🎤 Evil Like Me / Descendants (Villain)
- Oh Blu...what did you do? This is very much a disney song, it seems like kind of a gag, the vocals are not good really and i think that's because it's an evil character and that's a trope but idk I've never seen Descendants...the lyrics are giving very much Frozen type vibes...childish, or maybe they could have gone better with a non-childish sound...idk. I saw the title and got excited but this song was not it.
🎤 Don't You Worry Bout A Thing / Tori Kelly
- She has some good vocals but...this song felt very out of place with itself. Like the lyrics, her vocals, and the music itself just all together did not seem to match. I was very confused why they picked her to do this song as it says it's for a soundtrack. Also...idk if the original song has similar music but it just doesn't seem to fit.
🎤 right where you left me / Taylor Swift (Lyrical Devices)
- This is a really beautiful song. I loved her voice, the music, the lyrics...all around it came through and together very well. I think your lyrical device here was a close rhyme scheme but it was a little hard to figure out, the only thing is with this theme I did seek out more obvious lyrical devices just since rhyming is so commonplace in songs already. However, a good song is a good song!

- Oooo this song was very intriguing! I saw 60s style and got concerned...but it was good! The music was captivating and the vocals great, the delivery of this song is super solid!

Congrats on your first win and a spot in the finale! Your edit has been a little wild, either safe or in the bottom 2/3 until now. I am honestly surprised you held on for so long! I appreciate you not giving up :)
A Little Wicked by itself was not enough to get you the episode win but ABSOLUTELY earned you a high ranking this week! Soooo good. I think Gloria was a big risk that didn't pay off but that's okay, you've had such a strong showing all season, I'm very excited to see what you bring to the finale!
There will not be a Face Off tonight. I did think Fast Car was a very middle of the road, playing it safe type song...but Santé was a well thought out pick that I quite enjoy! You will advance to the finale.
I am very sorry to see you out as a direct elimination given your track record, but your submissions this week did not hold up to the others in my opinion. Your edit was very exciting and I hope to see you play again!
