WEEK 5

DAY 29: Eviction

-Upon waking up, the house soon discovers John’s sabotage of the steaks from the previous evening. To John’s surprise, Paschal, supported by fellow Untouchables Gabriel and Neleh defend Rob, deducing the likely culprit to be Peter, instead, as he does not deny the crime. As a result, Peter spends much of the day meditating alone in the chicken pen. Sarah attempts to join him, but cannot get him to speak or acknowledge her. In the diary room, Kathy confides to Big Brother that she noticed John the previous evening, but is keeping this information to herself. “Is he probably stirring the house? Sure, but I have no proof that he’s lying. Everyone here is lying, one way or another, and if you pull that first piece…the entire tower could collapse. That’s a pretty scary thought with the house already being so dramatic.”

-Gina, determined to take the day in stride, makes Hunter and herself matching necklaces out of abnormal shaped mulch and seeds from the garden. Hunter, Tammy, and Robert, Vecepia, John, Gabriel meanwhile workout using the oversized mulch bags as weights.

-Just before the eviction, Hunter pulls aside Rob to apologize to him in a “man to man.” “I don’t want to leave this house on bad terms with anyone. If I stay, clean slate.” Rob, realizing the potential for a new ally, as well as Hunter’s vulnerability, shakes on it, and claims that Hunter is welcome in Boston anytime.

EVICTION

“Big Brother house, this is Jeff. The people of America have been voting, and the phone lines are now closed. Gina. Hunter. One of you is safe, and for one of you, your shot at the million dollars is over. The housemate with the fewest votes, and the fourth person to be evicted is….Hunter.”

Hunter hugs Gina, and whispers “Congraulations. You deserve it. Win it all, okay? Be strong.” In her ears before shaking hands and hugging each of this fellow housemates. Everyone is cordial, and soon he has reached the front door.

“Hunter, the public has spoken. You must now leave the Big Brother house.”

The entire house applaudes as Hunter makes his exit. Afterwards, everyone mills about, until Robert breaks the silence. “Well, that was awkward.” A few housemates nervously laugh. Clearly, no one expected Hunter’s eviction this early.

INTERVIEW

-Hunter receives a mixed reaction, leaning positive. He’s clearly surprised to be out so early, but puts on a broad smile for his eviction, claiming he’s both happy with the response of the crowd and of his housemates. “Nothing but love there, even from Rob.” He laughs.

-Hunter claims he didn’t enter the house intending to be a leader, but “When 16 people are all trying to make any decision, someone has to step up as a moderator, and in a house with that many personalities…you’re going to be stepping on someone’s toes.”

-Asked about his relationship with Gina, Hunter is generally non-committal, giving the stock reality answer of “we’ll see on the outside; Gina’s a great girl.”

-On his rivalry with Rob, he states Rob is a young guy who is doing what any guy wants to do at that age, take charge, be the hero, get the girl. Hunter claims that having made up, he hopes that Rob was genuine, and that could possibly act as a mentor figure towards Rob in the future.

-Upon who he wanted to see evicted next, Hunter refuses to answer, saying he’s much more interested in seeing how things plays out naturally, whilst he obviously wants Gina to emerge victorious.

-Final Percentages, Gina 73% Hunter 23%

DAY 30: Day of Rest

-Inspired by the compliments of her previous day’s necklaces, Gina gets to work designing bracelets for each of the remaining housemates. She manages to make Tammy, John, Neleh, Vecepia, Robert, Gabriel personalized bracelets (Paschal declines the offer) before running out of twine, leaving Kathy, Peter, Sarah, and Rob without. She suggests putting it on the next shopping budget, but all four claim it’s not a big deal. Later, in their bedroom, Rob and Kathy bitch in front of roommates Peter, Vecepia, and Sarah, as well as Neleh, and Gabriel about how clear it makes the house hierarchy. Peter admits it caught him off-guard, as he thought he was getting along well with everyone. In solidarity, Gabriel and Neleh refuse to wear their bracelets until everyone has one, a fact with John points out to Gina, upsetting her, as she didn’t mean for it be a clique thing.

-The house decides to play the newlywed game, hosted by John. The pairs are Rob and Sarah, Paschal and Kathy, Tammy and Robert, Neleh and Gabriel, Vecepia and Peter. Paschal and Kathy manage to win, with Rob and Sarah only beating Vecepia and Peter, which most of the house finds hilarious. Rob and Sarah decide to spend the rest of the evening learning more about each other, which essentially amounts of groping in the hot tub.

-Due to the diet of staples from losing the previous week’s task, Kathy has such extreme gas that her roommates kick her out onto the couch where she sleeps alone.

DAY 31: Task Set

-This week’s task is to simulate a plane trip in a giant fake plane in the backyard, a task not all clearly designed for evictee Hunter. For the first half of the task, Rob is given runway taximan, Kathy and John are given the task of constantly manning a control tower to look out for “oncoming planes.” Gabriel, as bagboy, must load luggage whenever a luggage carousel alarm sounds. The rest of the housemates must simulate the flight itself, to be carried out the next day. Robert and Vecepia are elected Captain and Co-Captain, based dubiously on Robert’s limo driving and Vecepia’s military experience. Neleh and Sarah are elected flight attendants, and must cater to the every whim of their passengers, Paschal, Gina, Tammy, and Peter. The house may amass three fails. The house agrees the task is overly complicated, and bid 25% of their budget.

-In the control tower, Kathy and John get to gossiping about house dynamics, and completely miss a remote control plane flown over the garden, accruing their first fail for the house. Both agree that Rob has mellowed now that Hunter has left the house, but that Peter is resenting being the only crunchy granola in the village. John invites Kathy to take Hunter’s vacant bed, but she declines, saying she’s too loud at night to sleep with the likes of Robert and Paschal.

-Tammy coaxes Robert out near the chicken pen, where Gabriel pops out of the coop dressed in a makeshift chicken outfit, screaming “BAKAWWWWW.” Robert dashes into the house and halfway across the living room before realizing that Gabriel, is not, in fact, a giant chicken. Much laughter is had.

DAY 32: Task Day 2

-The house is surprised by the announcement of a “Deadwood Eviction”, in which all twelve housemates are automatically nominated for the eviction, which is a double. Some, like Vecepia, express relief at not having to nominate. Others, like Neleh, express disbelief. “It could be any one of us. It’s crazy.” to which Robert’s response is, simply “It’s Big Brother.” In the diary room, Rob expresses excitement, having already survived several public evictions. In a separate session, John has the opposite reaction. “I work so hard to craft ideal outcomes. I have no control, and while I’d like to think my side of the house is the side America is enjoying…you just don’t know.”

-With the plane simulation ride having begun, Peter requests a quinoa salad. After 33 minutes of preparation, Sarah burns the quinoa supplied by Big Brother, incurring the second fail for the house. Peter, in a hungry fit of rage, then proceeds to exit the plane structure. Despite a flawless landing by Robert and Vecepia, the house fails the task. Gina immediately blames the failure on Sarah’s cooking, sending her into a fit of tears and fleeing into the bathroom, where is she is comforted by John and Kathy.

-Robert, Neleh, and Paschal, with a surprising amount of help from Rob make a giant meal with almost all the remaining food for the house. Over dinner, Peter half apologizes for his actions, half accuses the rest of the house for not making proper concessions for him. No one really knows how to respond.

DAY 33: Shopping Budget

-Tammy, as previously appointed house leader, builds a committee of herself, Neleh, Sarah, Robert and Peter to determine the budget. This turns out to be a few too many cooks in the kitchen, and while Neleh and Sarah make few suggestions, Robert insists on Italian staples, while Peter pushes for more fresh produce and grain. Neleh insists on twine for Gina. The result is an unbalanced budget, and no one seems totally happy with the final list.

-Paschal enlists Rob and Gabriel to teach him some fitness techniques. Vecepia, Gina, and John, out of earshot, provide color commentary.

-Peter gives Kathy a “herbal infused” massage, which involves a messy concoction of several of the spices grown in the garden mixed into cooking oil. This combination ends up staining the sheets of Kathy’s bed, and they must return them to Big Brother for a replacement set. Once again, Kathy ends up on the couch, though she admits “At least the massage was good!”

DAY 34: Party

-Big Brother, feeling the house deserves a reprieve from their minimal budget, throws the house a Cowboy themed party, with hay bales strewn around the house, and several cuts of prime meat, ribs, and beers delivered. Much square and line dancing ensues, and Gina displays her remarkable skill for spitting a watermelon seed. Robert is actively terrified by the chickens having been let loose in the garden, and spends the entire party exclusively indoors.

-Having imbibed perhaps too much, Paschal, in speaking to Tammy, refers to Vecepia via racial epithet. Tammy later confides this information in John, who tells Vecepia. Rather than confronting him, she merely claims “He’ll get what’s coming to him. No drama. Just results.” Kathy also drank too much, and completely sober Neleh ends up spending much of the evening holding Kathy’s hair as she regurgitates the evening’s food.

-Rob and Sarah have a weird, roleplaying moment in the bedroom during a moment of privacy in which he acts like the sheriff and she acts like…aloof….saloon owner?

DAY 35: Save & Replace

-On the morning of Day 35, the housemates are informed that the Save & Replace will still take place. The task involves the housemates sitting on two elongated couches on a rotating disk, each housemate attempting to turn on their respective TV and successfully get it to channel 5 using dodgeballs. Soon, it becomes clear that Rob, Robert, and Neleh are the primary housemates in contention. Kathy, Peter, and Sarah, Vecepia attempt to assist Rob, Tammy and Gina work to help out Robert, and Gabriel and Paschal work for Neleh. John continues to work on his own TV. With too many housemates working on Rob’s TV, Robert manages to edge him out, and win the Save & Replace. In a twist, it’s revealed he can save two nominees. Robert chooses himself and Tammy.

-John spends much of the day sulking and reexamining his social game after not being selected by Robert. Meanwhile, Vecepia relays what John told her about Paschal to Kathy, Rob, Peter, and Sarah. All react in disgust, and Rob threatens to confront Paschal before being talked down by Vecepia and Kathy. The conversation is interrupted by Gina delivering the remaining bracelets to the group, who decide to inform Gina. She is shocked, and thinks the house needs to call a meeting. Upon informing Tammy about her opinion on the matter, Tammy realizes the entire house now knows, and calls a house meeting to decry both Paschal’s statement, as well as the rampant gossiping in the house. John defends his actions, claiming it was Vecepia’s right to know, while Paschal defends himself by insisting he didn’t remember the conversation. Neleh, shocked upon hearing the story for the first time, cries while Gabriel sits in stunned silence at the actions of his father figure. Vecepia contributes nothing to the entire meeting, insisting the entire thing is a private matter.

-With the night coming to an end, Gina, embarrassed at the amount of drama, confides in Gabriel that she isn’t getting involved in anyone’s business anymore, and that she thinks things are far too overblown in the house. Paschal makes the house rounds, apologizing to each housemate one at a time. Vecepia refuses to talk to Paschal, extensively, simply accepting his apology and saying that it’s for the best if they just both move on.

This week, Gabriel, Gina, John, Kathy, Neleh, Paschal, Peter, Rob, Sarah, and Vecepia face the public vote. Who stays, you decide.
