First, I would like to point out this is not some long-winded speech about how wonderful this day is and how sweet it is or how I spent it all with my Valentine.
What I want to say is, why do people need a HOLIDAY to do something SWEET to show someone their LOVE? There are so many people who don't do anything sweet at all, not even a sweet pair of words, yet do something showy on Valentines Day. We all know why this is too, to make yourself look good and so you don't get dumped. Albeit, not all girls will dump you for the 14th, but some will. Also, people doing this and making a huge show of it are a reason its also known as Singles Awareness Day. S.A.D. for short. Now, I'm not saying doing something sweet in public is a no-no, but it can poke some wounds on people, be aware.
Also, the people who do the 'big' thing on the 14th, keep in mind it isn't the big things that make the biggest impact and say "I love you". Sure they say it once or twice, and if it's something they can keep forever it reminds them of the moment, but truly, its all the little things that matter. Yes, the little things, the things that just happen, subconsciously. Sweet things. These make it to where she will never forget.
Now, Yes I'm harping on mostly guys, and while this probably seems a bit against my own gender, its more of educating. Yes, because a sum of my gender thinks with the wrong brain, doesn't think at all, or is just plain ignorant. Some are, forgive me, stupid. Not everyone is, not everyone isn't, so no offense to anyone in particular.
As for you lovely ladies, well, I'm not really able to give good advice here, but from my perspective I can say, all a guy wants is you, every single day. He'll give you something for many reasons if his heart is true, to tell you he loves you, to see you smile, to see you blush, to feel your arms around him, and to hear you tease about how you'll kill him if he gets you anything.
Basically what I'm saying is, who needs a holiday to be sweet? Who needs a holiday to show someone you love them? And who needs a holiday to wear a free hug T-shirt and hug anyone single, it will make their day! :)
