Hi so my ranking was almost as big a failure as Poland (: So here are my thoughts on the songs that unfortunately didn't make it to the final, as I'm sure everyone wanted to know.
AZERBAIJAN - X My Heart - Kinda sad for this tbh, it was definitely generic but a really nice song. A lyrical mess, and it didn't suit Aisel well, but she did a good job with the chorus and it was solid. Would've put it as a qualifier.
ICELAND - Our Choice - Well, Ari did what he could with a hopeless song. A pleasant performance, he was vocally brilliant, but I don't think there was any performance that could've saved that song.
BELGIUM - A Matter of Time - ROBBED. I know this has got a fairly large amount of flack for the performance but I really liked it. One of my favourites from this year although I can't say I'm too surprised it miss out. Love the song and the performance though.
BELARUS - Forever - His vocals improved I think? I couldn't really tell because I was too focused on whatever unholy mess was going on in the performance. Won't be missing it.
MACEDONIA - Lost & Found - Apparently I'm in the minority (???) who hated this song. Didn't enjoy the performance at all, wouldn't be surprised if it was last overall.
CROATIA - Crazy - Much like Iceland, Franka did everything she could with a fairly poor song. Started off promisingly but derailed and unfortunately the song doesn't really go anywhere despite how much she tried to make it.
GREECE - Oniro mou - Never really got the "hype" for this song. It's pleasant (in studio form), but nothing else, and the live was not good imo. Considering they promised great staging as well, I was left disappointed.
ARMENIA - Qami - Forgettable.
SWITZERLAND - Stones - Not Switzerland actually sending a good song, with an excellent performance, and still missing out? Disappointed but not surprised, this was so good, possibly even my favourite of semi 1 performance-wise.
ROMANIA - Goodbye - Pleasant, a really strong vocal performance, but not hugely surprised it missed out although I wanted it to make it.
SAN MARINO - Who We Are - Iconic mess, but not a strong enough song. Dodgy vocals in places too.
RUSSIA - I Won't Break - I feel so bad for Yulia with this messy performance, she wasn't even put as the central focus so I don't see the point in her being there at all because it certainly wasn't for her vocals in _this_ song. She deserved a more suitable song at least.
GEORGIA - For You - Disappointed but not surprised, I love this and thought they did great but it was never gonna make it realistically.
POLAND - Light Me Up - I never predicted this as a qualifier and I'm happy to be proven right. A mess from start to finish - a vocal, musical and visual tragedy.
MALTA - Taboo - I did think this could qualify after the performance, but never really liked the song. Christabelle's voice grates on me, the song is pretty weak and the performance just felt overwhelming.
LATVIA - Funny Girl - She did fine but was never gonna happen.
