Oli enters the new year starting over. He has no friends, no relations, nothing to grasp on to. The only person he really talks to is the good saint Conner. Oli struggles to find his place, and Conner suggests he join the soccer team. Jerome, Ashton, and Liam watch Oli tryout, but Oli sucks at Soccer and has no aim. After the soccer team rejects him, Oli tries to find something else that suits him. As he walks down the hall, he hears a sweet violin playing and enters the band room to see Destiny playing the violin. Oli, unknowing of her title as Degrassi Tramp, asks if she is in a club or something. Destiny tells Oli about Band and she will teach him how to play. The two bond together as Destiny shows Oli the basics of the violin
Kelsey Brown is starting her sophomore year off at Degrassi planning to make her mark this year. Last year, she sat back and watched her classmates participate in drama, and this year she wanted to get involved. First, she needed a best friend, someone to rule the school with! After walking the school, Kelsey finds Katie Beth bullying some freshman. Kelsey grins wickedly and helps Katie Beth, who smiles and introduces herself. The two quickly become friends, with their common interest in cruelty to the younger class men. The next step in her claim to fame is to find a boy, NOT A BOYFRIEND, but someone she would flirt with and everyone knew they were an item and hooking up but weren't official. Katie Beth warned Kelsey not to trust Ray, as he was Kelsey's first choice. Kelsey, ignoring this, started flirting with Ray. Ray, who still liked Katie Beth, awkwardly flirted back. Kelsey felt triumph, knowing this school better watch themselves. Hurricane Kelsey is COMING.
Jessi has kept her relationship with Jerome steady. Dating one of the school's soccer players and being undoubtedly the most stylish person in school was enough to keep everyone under her feet on the social pyramid. Almost everyone, that is. Now that Jessica had transferred, the spot of head cheerleader was open, and nothing was gonna stop Jessi from achieving that goal. At night, Jessi stopped Jerome from making out with her and force him to watch her practice for the audition. When Jessi arrives to the tryouts, she sees her arch-nemesis Josie, also trying for head cheerleader. Jessi and Josie give it their all, but in a desperate attempt to secure her spot, Jessi sticks her foot out, tripping Josie and causing her to sprain her ankle. Liam sees this and runs over to help, but Josie, still vindictive, pushes him away. Jessi, now the best person to tryout without any broken bones, is declared the head cheerleader, which she and Jerome celebrate.
