Hello Europe! Welcome back to Vidbir for the 38th edition of ESCT - we have ten artists with ten fantastic songs hoping to represent Ukraine when ESCT comes to Denmark. This selection features nine brand new artists to the contest, with one entry dedicated to a collaboration of previous ESCT artists.
And below you can find a recap. Feel free to just use the recap to vote if you wish, but all songs will be posted individually below also if you wish to listen to all of them in full.
Alina Pash is returning to Vidbir after the divisive 'Bosorkanya' propelled her into ESCTverse stardom. The singer and rapper who originally placed as a finalist on The X Factor Ukraine finished in 7th place last time around, but is hoping to win everybody over this time with 'N.U.M.'
Kadebostany is a band fronted by Swiss producer Guillaume de Kadebostany that has previously represented Switzerland twice, failing to make the final on both occasions. This time though, they're joined by Ukrainian group Kazka, who had better fortunes in the semi final of ESCT 36, which they won and went on to finish in 9th place in the final. The song is 'Baby I'm Ok'.
CTACIK is a one of a kind musical artist, the stage name of war veteran turned musician Anastasiia Shevchenko. Anastasiia took part in the 2013/14 Revolution of Dignity and war in Donbass as an army medic, and uses music as a way of expressing her feelings around the war. She is bringing the powerful 'Kolyskova dlya voroha' to Vidbir.
Artem Pivovarov is also making his return after an underwhelming 11th place in Vidbir 37. This time, he's bringing a brass-infused dance-pop song 'Dezhaviu' to the table, and will be comforted by the fact that even if he comes last this time he will have beaten his result of last edition.
KLER is an online enigma there is no information about her. Maybe an ESCT appearance will bring her global stardom? She is trying her best with 'Tikay'.
Alina Grosu is a Ukrainian singer from the Romanian minority within Ukraine. She released her first album in 2000 at the age of just 5 and has released a 7 more in her 20 year music career. Here, she brings us 'Hochu ya basa'.
Indie pop/rock band KADNAY are back after 'Polon' finished in dead last in Vidbir 37. Dmitry and Philip will be hoping that the more upbeat, catchy pop song 'Santiago' will see something of a change in fate, possibly bringing them to the ESCT stage in Denmark.
Ukrainian-born producer Isabelle Rezazadeh (known as Rezz) is now based in Canada with Iranian roots, and is joined by fellow producer on the show closer 'Someone Else'.
