CONTRABAND GAME
Objective: Smuggle your money out of the opposing country but watch out for inspection!
OVERVIEW
1. The game will have two teams of seven players each
2. Each player has a loan of 400m yen. Your loan is broken up as follows: 100m yen in your Swiss Account, and 300m yen in your Vault.
3. This game lasts for 7 rounds. Each round has a Smuggling Phase and Inspection Phase. See their respective sections for more details. Each phase is 24 hours.
4. Players will battle a different member of the enemy team each round as both smuggler and inspector. Matchups will be as follows for Players A, B, C, D, E, F, G on team 1, and Players H, I, J, K, L, M, N.
Round 1- A vs H, B vs I, C vs J, D vs K, E vs L, F vs M, G vs N
Round 2- A vs I, B vs J, C vs K, D vs L, E vs M, F vs N, G vs H
Round 3 – A vs J, B vs K, C vs L, D vs M, E vs N, F vs H, G vs I
Etc. (If someone wants all matchups posted once the game begins, I will do so.)
SMUGGLING PHASE
1. Each player must decide whether to smuggle 50m, 75m, or 100m, or decide to smuggle nothing. You are only able to smuggle funds from your own Vault.
a. If you smuggle 50m or 75m, you must set aside a Reserve from your Swiss account of 50m or 25m, respectively for this round. Otherwise, you cannot smuggle that amount.
b. If the money you can withdraw from your vault is less than 50m, you must elect to smuggle 50m yen, but will only carry the money you can withdraw. For purposes of exact guesses in inspection, you will be counted as smuggling 50m yen.
2. Players may be notified depending on your decision.
a. Smuggling nothing or 50m yen- No players are notified
b. Smuggling 75m yen- Two players on your team are notified of the decision. You must choose different players to inform each time you wish to smuggle 75m yen until all players on your team have been informed. Afterward, you are free to choose anyone on your team. (If the decision is not made, two will be notified randomly out of those eligible).
c. Smuggling 100m yen- All players on your team are notified.
3. Players may elect to become a Traitor from their team and commit Treason if they are able. See section ‘Treason and Traitors’ for more information.
INSPECTION PHASE
1. All players will decide what their opponent chose to smuggle in the Smuggling phase by calling ‘Pass’, ‘Doubt 50m’, ‘Doubt 75m’, or ‘Doubt 100m’.
2. Results will vary depending on what was smuggled and what the inspector called.
a. (Smuggler- Nothing vs Inspector- Pass). Nothing happens
b. (Smuggler- Smuggle X vs Inspector- Pass). X yen is successfully smuggled and deposited into the Smuggler’s Swiss Account.
c. (Smuggler- Nothing vs Inspector- Doubt Y). Y/2 yen is paid out of the Inspector’s Swiss Account to the Smuggler’s Swiss Account due to wrongful inspection.
d. (Smuggler- Smuggle X vs Inspector- Doubt Y). Multiple scenarios, see below
i. If Amount smuggled is LESS than Inspector’s doubt…………Amount smuggled is confiscated and paid into the Inspector’s Swiss Account
ii. If Amount smuggled is MORE than Inspector’s doubt………..Amount smuggled is successfully smuggled and deposited into Smuggler’s Swiss Account AND ½ of the Inspector’s doubt is paid to the Smuggler’s Swiss Account due to wrongful inspection
iii. If Amount smuggled is EQUAL to Inspector’s doubt………….Amount smuggled is confiscated and paid into the Inspector’s Swiss Account AND amount in smuggler’s Reserve is paid into Inspector’s Swiss Account
3. If you want to call ‘Doubt Y, you must have at least (Y/2) yen in your Swiss Account available.
4. If members of the enemy team want to become Traitors, you may also send in a vote to declare who should be the Traitor for that round. (See section ‘Treason and Traitors’ for more information).
5. After the Inspection Phase ends, the dealer will reveal the result of all smuggling/inspecting.
TREASON AND TRAITORS
1. During the Smuggling Phase, you may declare your intention to commit Treason and become a Traitor by sending a mail to the Dealer along with your smuggling attempt.
2. During the Inspection Phase, the enemy team will receive a list of players wanting to become traitors from their team.
a. Players will vote for 1 player to be Traitor but may abstain from the vote if they would like.
b. 5 votes are needed to confirm a Traitor, as such only 1 player per team is able to become traitor per round.
3. Upon being successful in becoming a Traitor, that player along with the enemy team will be notified by the LGT at the start of the next round.
a. The LGT will then loan 25m into the Swiss accounts of each member of the enemy team (NOT the traitor). Please note that this money WILL count in terms of the victory condition.
4. A player may only be elected as traitor a maximum of one time.
5. During Payout calculation when the game is over, the Traitor will secretly collect 15m from each teammate per act of Treason.
WINNING AND PAYOUTS
1. The dealer will reveal the total money in every Swiss Account and Vault, along with the number of rounds each team suffered from treason.
2. The team with the most money in their Swiss Accounts + Vaults are the winners! The Losers will go to the Revival Round
a. If the teams tie in money total, the LGT will compare the total yen in Swiss Accounts (Most money wins).
b. If the teams are still tied after the tiebreaker, BOTH teams are considered Losers and will go to the Revival Round.
3. Players will collect money in their Swiss Accounts.
4. Money remaining in your Vault is confiscated by the enemy team. The enemy team will split the total in their opponents’ vaults evenly.
5. Treason payouts will be calculated at this step but kept private between the LGT and the Traitor.
6. Players pay back any loans received at the start and during the game.
a. Remember, money received from the LGT as a result of Treason count as loans. (Money stolen from teammates does not)
INACTIVITY
1. Each phase requires you to send at minimum a decision for smuggling or inspecting.
2. If you do not send a decision regarding what to smuggle during the Smuggling phase, you smuggle nothing. Your opponent will be notified of your inactivity.
3. If you do not send in a decision regarding your Inspection during the Inspection phase, you automatically Pass.
4. If you miss 6 phases, you will automatically head to the revival round.
a. If you are on the winning team, the player with the most money on the losing team will take your place.
5. If you miss both Phases in a single round, you will pay a 50m yen penalty to the LGT.
