— — GYUL! HAP! — —

ANTHONY vs NICK

This Death Match is called Gyul! Hap! -- a game of observation and quick-thinking that is a staple from the Genius.

In each round, you will both be given the same board of 9 symbols. Each symbol shows a shape on a background. There are:
-        3 possible shapes.
-        3 possible shape colors.
-        3 possible background colors.

You will be required to find all of the “matches” on the board before your opponent.

A match (called a “Hap” in this game) is defined as follows: Each of the three characteristics is either the SAME ON ALL SYMBOLS and/or is DIFFERENT ON ALL 3 SYMBOLS.

Haps will not be as simple as being ALL the same or ALL different specifically. Instead it may be a mix of SAME colors, DIFFERENT shapes etc.

For example:

This set is a Hap, because the shapes are all identical, the background colors are all identical, and the shape colors are all different. Because all 3 of the properties are either identical or all distinct, they form a match. You’d gain a point every time you claim of these first.

This set does NOT form a Hap. They have identical backgrounds and distinct colors, BUT they are NOT all identical or distinct shapes, because there are only 2 stars (not a unique 1 on it’s own, or a complete set of 3). You’d lose a point any time you suggest an invalid combo like this one.

When the board is revealed, both of you may call a Hap by posting on Skype the combination of 3 numbers of the 9 on the board (for example):

HAP
3 6 7

The numbers represent which symbol on the grid you are referencing, following a numerical order that I will post in a second.

If you are the first to recognise combination is a Hap, you EARN 1 point. If the combination is NOT a Hap, then you LOSE 1 point. If it is indeed a Hap but your opponent got there first, you’ll just score 0.

If you think that there are no more Haps to be called out on the board, then you may call:

GYUL

Calling Gyul means that you think are no more Haps remaining uncalled by either play. If you are correct, then you will gain 3 POINTS. However, if you are incorrect and there are valid uncalled Haps still remaining on the board, you will lose 2 points.

The game consists of 5 rounds, and the player with most points at the end will win and stay in the game.
