A Beginner's Rookies Guide - Everything You Need to Know About Playing Rookies

Sep 6, 2010 by icerage
Everyday, there are new people who joins Rookies, i always see them asking how does the game works? Well, maybe some tips will help. :)

---------------------------------------------------
So you just joined your first Rookies Game? I bet you’re wondering how this game works. Oh well, this game is based on BB-USA Rules. Unlike the BB-US, this game doesn’t have jury - the Algorithm is the one who do the job of choosing the winner. Each rookies game last for a whole week (7 days) and each day have 24 hours.

Rookies is an interesting game, its more like of a social game than a castings – you need to socialize in a rookies game. You can make friends, allies, enemies in this game.

This game has 2 major elements, the Head of Househould (HOH) and the Power of Veto (POV).

HoH – being the Head of Household in the game means you have the power to choose 2 people to be on the block/nomination. First HoH is random, then in order to get HoH – you need to be active and maybe talk a lot in the game so you can get it. You can’t get HoH twice in a row. There is no HoH in the Final Day (Day 7).

PoV – having PoV in the game means you can save someone who’s nominated or maybe you can use it to yourself if you’re nominated. PoV is like Head of Household where you need to be active/talk a lot to obtain it, PoV will be given to the one of top 3 participants in that day. But there is no PoV on day 1.

Everyday (starting day 2), there are 3 nominees that’s been up for eviction – 2 was chosen by the HoH and the other 1 was chosen by the algorithm (based on activity). Everyday, 1 person leaves the game (except for day 1).

Voting the comments/posts of the other participants in the game is also important, most likely the person who received the most positive votes is the one who will get HoH. Getting a negative votes from a single participant doesn’t matter at all – but receiving negative votes from 2 or more participants will affect your activity and might cause you being nominated the next day – you will be ranked more worst than an inactive player in the game.

Everyday, each person goes – there are 3 nominees each day, you will vote for the person who you want to go and give the least point on the person you want to stay, like this :

Person #1 : 3 points *this is the person you most likely to go home*
Person #2 : 2 points *this is the person you gave the 2nd most points that will be evicted if ever the POV will be used on the Person 1*
Person #3 : 1 pont *this is the person you want to be safe and stay in the game for the next day*

There are :
Day 1 – no voters, no eviction
Day 2 – 7 voters, 3 nominees
Day 3 – 6 voters, 3 nominees
Day 4 – 5 voters, 3 nominees
Day 5 – 4 voters, 3 nominees
Day 6 – 3 voters, 3 nominees
Day 7 – 2 voters, 3 nominees,  last eviction

How does “BETS” work? In Day 1, people who’s not in the game can put bets and guess the final 5 of the game – they can put at least 1 T$ to 20 T$ *maximum* to the person they think will mostly win the game.
10th – 0%
9th – 0%
8th – 0%
7th – 0%
6th – 0%
5th – 0%  *you will get your money back but no profit*
4th – 10%  profit + the T$ you bet
3rd – 20 % profit + the T$ you bet
2nd – 30% profit + the T$ you bet
1st – 100% profit + the T$ you bet

Some Tips

- Spamming the game, don’t do this, sometime – spamming helps you, sometimes it doesn’t. 2 comments in a row is most likely the maximum post you can do, if you do 3 or more than 4 comments in a row, it might count as a negative points even if the other players in the game is voting positive points on yours posts.

- Premades , this are group of people who are already aligned before they join the game, it’s mostly group of people who doesn’t wanna give other people a chance in the game – be careful joining a game with people you can recognize that is already aligned with someone in that game.

- Alliances, this is like the most important thing in the game, you need someone to trust in the game, it is good to make alliances with friends/people you just met during the game. this will help you when you are up for nomination.

- It’s also good to keep inactive people in the game so you can make sure that if you’re safe – you will not be nominated.. Instead, the inactive one is the one who’s most likely to be nominated – but sometimes this strategy doesn’t work. In some games, inactive people got a higher placings than the other one who’s active, so its all up to you.
