Ask Carly: ATL Q&A - S2, E4

image1. Are Kevin and Barret really attracted to each other or is this some sort of act out of desperation/horniness/loneliness?

It’s a mix I would say. For much of last season, Barret would somehow end up in Kevin’s orbit. When the two first meet Kevin and Stacey are seeking shelter in a barn where Barret happens to be. Its that interaction that later led to Kevin being forced to save him and his unconscious sister from zombies. The second time the duo ran into Barret in the woods where he asked to join them. Kevin had grown at that point to be stronger and more protective. This time around Kevin is alone and is avoiding the grieving process. With Barret now present, Kevin was able to finally release his anger and sadness. Is there an attraction there? Of course, but the sex was rooted deep in Kevin’s need to just release his bottled up emotions.

2. With the characters we have now, are there any more pre-existing relationships or anything like that?

There’s a few. In the first episode we see Kevin and Miles interact with barista, Eden. Chandler and Sage were working on homework together in the same coffee shop. There may be one or two more that are being kept a secret, for now!

3. I can sense a big rivalry between Ofelia and Meredith. Is there any chance for them to bury the hatchet?

There’s always a chance for anything to happen, but I think for now these two won’t be braiding each other’s hair and talking about boys.

4. Out of the new Revco characters, which did you find most difficult to write for in complexity and who flourished early on?

Every character is a bit tough to write as I don’t want to make them a one note character. Out of the Revco characters I’d say probably Richard at the moment. He’s that character everyone’s been hearing about and now he has to live up to that recognition. One character that flourished early on was Ofelia. She knows who she is and what she wants and how she’ll obtain it. If I could go back, I would have made her a main character rather than a recurring one.

5. Why is Ofelia such a fucking bitch?

Ha! There’s a few ways to answer that, but I think the common thread is that Ofelia knows what she wants. Ofelia isn’t afraid to saying it how she sees it and she’s not afraid to take advantage of an opportunity, even if it’s one she creates herself. Some might call this being ambitious.

6. Why did Chandler open the cell door in front of Eden?

Simply to prove that she has the ability to leave and do as she wants, but chooses not to. For much of this season, so far, Chandler has been in this cell keeping to herself. She’s been sitting with only her thoughts. What those thoughts are are though is the real question.

7. Is there going to be a repeat of Ramon’s prison storyline with Jeremy, Reina, Richard and company?

No. This situation seems similar, but it’s different and that will be explored more in the mid-season finale which I hope to have posted sometime this week!
