kc’s takesies : this is some real cracker shit but what can i say... i’m white, so i kind of liked it ! would i say it’s a masterpiece? no, but mandy moore IS white culture. and i respect that. rapunzel has the range. basically, i admit this is, like, not a GREAT album, but i love it. i just feel like this is my white rights.
zu's reviu: i like this album! initially i thought the album reeked of desperation, namely "tryin' my best, los angeles" which made it seem like she was frustrated with the state of her career. regardless, there are a few songs that really spoke to me. for example "i'd rather lose" takes a righteous stand against the machivellian behaviors employed by various people in the elite class. i also found "forgiveness" quite relatable as well. relatability, id say, is the overall strength of the better songs on this album, because when listening to the songs i didnt relate to or were too vague to understand, they ended up just being opaque poetry behind some one-note acoustics. that's just me, though; surely there's at least one song on this album for everyone that they really connect to!
FINAL ALBUM RATING: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
stay tuned, as later on tonight we'll also be releasing a review of ceremony by phantogram!
