Since I had so much time in quarantine, I listened to way more projects than usual, 40 to be exact. Most are albums, but there's 2 or 3 EPs in there so I thought it'd be fun to rank them!
#27 is.......good to know - JoJo
Highlights - I probably won't be listening to much JoJo going forward if she continues this route. She's still very good and she made good songs, hence why this is #27 and not #40, but her genre is just not for me. Call me a clown if you want, but I was expecting some Leave (Get Out) and Too Little Too Late bops like she released in the 2000s, so when she went full-on R&B instead of pop or even R&B pop, I was like oof. Still, though, the songs for the most part are good, just not what I'd listen to, hence why a lot are aqua, green, or light green tier. I will say, I've been debating relistening to this album post-positions cause positions is a very R&B album that took me a couple listens to get into it fully so I wonder if I'd love this on a re-listen. For the highlight, it's definitely Don't Talk Me Down. The piano in the background is beautiful but holy hell JoJo's vocals are amazing here and she exudes power on this ballad! I'd love to see a live performance of this song! Honestly shocked she didn't get a grammy nod for this project since a lot of people were expecting her to.
Lowlights - None of the songs are really bad, another reason why it's higher even though I rarely ever listen to anything off of this. Comeback, though, is my least favorite. It might be even worse than I initially ranked it now that it's come out that one of the features is a woman shooter who deserves zero success in life and I hope he flops. Like he's trash and the fact he's featured...ew. I stan that she removed him on the deluxe album, but I listened to the regular one that was released originally and he's still on it. Even before news came out that he shot a queen, MTS, I still disliked his song cause of his part. I just did not vibe with it. And honestly...even JoJo's part. It feels weird that this song is the one the precedes Don't Talk Me Down. It feels like JoJo's trying to be someone she's not. But yeah, even then it would still be yellow without that horrid man being on the track. So, if you like the song, blame the putrid woman shooter on the track.
