Best of TSC 2019: Alexeh23

Jan 2, 2020 by Insanity
I promise I will finish this before 2021.

Next on my list is Alexeh23, a newer player in the grand scheme of Tengaged Song Contest who has since become a TSC staple.

Alex won a grand total of SIX contests this year. His first win was the very first contest of the year with "Juice" by Lizzo. I attempted to submit this song as well, but click races are not my type of gig. Fortunately for our friend Alex, he was able to claim Lizzo as his entry and start his 2019 TSC career very strong.

Another fun fact about one of Alex's winning entries: I originally entered one of his winning entries before him this year. It was "Violeta" by IZ*ONE. Although I thought the song had a decent shot of winning, I was rather impartial to it, and I don't always like having super predictable entries. Before Alex ever sent IZ*ONE, I changed my entry to "Bitter" by Evie Irie, and well, let's just say I really had to follow her advice this contest when I discovered that Alex won that contest with the song I originally sent.

Alex has had tons of high lights this year, and so many fantastic entries to choose from when considering what was truly my favorite Alex entry this year. Ultimately, I decided to pick a song from an artist I ended up LOVING throughout 2019. Hats off for you Alex, it was not too long after you submitted this song that I ended up finding a new artist I absolutely love, and isn't that really what TSC is all about?

My favorite Alexeh23 entry of 2019 is...

Slayyyter - Alone

Alexeh23 submitted Slayyyter in TSC 346 and received 6th place with 90 points (10 points given).

When I heard this track, I immediately felt like it could be an early career Britney Spears song. After listening to the rest of Slayyyter's discography, it's apparent that she’s inspired by the 2000s and by the PC music scene. The production in this song is very manic, almost overwhelming at times, but it all comes together so perfectly to create an undeniably catchy and infectious bop. Her style is going to be hit or miss with most people, and I don't envision her being one of those artists that grow on you. Although she has many songs that I love, I do think "Alone" is one of her best tracks with such a chaotically cohesive beat and a hard hitting chorus. I think MichelleObama said it all when he commented "felt like y eardrunms were stabbed"
