@diamonsarentforever Well there's a lot of reasons. The way animals are treated for food, clothing materials, and for product testing causes immense suffering to sentient creatures. There's no ethically consistent reason why we would care for dogs and cats and treat pigs and cows the way that we do. Furthermore, animal agriculture contributes significantly to global warming, antibiotic resistance, and to zoonotic diseases (like COVID). But the moral atrocity of the animal industry is of course the most pressing issue.
I agree with your viewpoint and that it is a concern, I wish farmers were more ethical, and better managed/regulated. Hopefully we can move to synthetic meats soon
With that said, I don't think it's fair to claim being vegan is the only way. I don't think everyone would have the means (financial and time) to cater a balanced vegan diet, since you also need to know how to replace the meat nutritional speaking (or pay for a nutritionist).
So hopefully with synthetic meats you can just replace it for that, but as it stands now, it is way too expensive for most.
_Teemo_ this is largely incorrect and is no excuse for someone with even meager means. The cheapest foods in stores are dry rice and beans. Perhaps there is an issue with nutritional education, but it's not very complex. A lack of education can be addressed, and anyone with internet access can get the information from all the accredited dietetics institutions that state that plant based diets are suitable for all stages of life.
