I've honestly never listened to them in my life, but tonight I decided to give their new album a try. I've heard decent things about it so I thought why not? WELL IT SUCKS. Nine Inch Nails are a horrible band, possibly worse than Foo Fighters. Probably not though.
Yoshitomi No, they are the absolute worst. And that is a horrible lyric from a horrible song. Their lyrics are crap, Dave Grohl is an awful singer, and when he yells he is even worse. They are responsible for making Rock what it is today, with their commercialized crappy "music".
Chad814 XD I'm honestly not fussed.
I like some Foo Fighters songs and I haven't heard any Nine Inch Nails songs. You're entitled to your opinion.
However, I don't think they're responsible for their popular. Popularity is bull****. Think about it.
Jar of Hearts and Safe and Sound are examples of two songs which only charted YEARS after their initial release. Where's the logic?
Great rock songs are still around and you can still buy them. You get lucky on Amazon sometimes. I see interesting artists on the free samplers and check them out.
Just because it's not in your face doesn't mean it's gone. ^_^
Yoshitomi Oh I totally agree with everything you said. Obviously it's all just my opinion, I know that. I don't listen to any chart music, or radio, so I don't even know what's popular these days, but I hate how the Foo Fighters are hugely successful when, like you said, there are so many other talented bands that not many people know about. I was being a bit excessive in my rant too, and of course every member of the Foo Fighters does in fact have talent.
I don't listen to much Modern Rock, but I do think I'm right in saying that the Foo Fighters were one of the very first "modern" bands to give off a sort of alternative pop rock sound which is what seems to be pretty popular. Linkin Park can be credited for that as well.
I still love Classic and 90s bands that still make good music, and not only for the money. Bands that have never sold out on the fans, like Rush, Alice in Chains, or the Gin Blossoms.
