Come on in everyone, and let's get this started. For this round, you were tasked with two songs under the "Songs For the Better" title - one being a song that enticed the listener/the world to act for the better, and the other being a cover of a previous submission that did not win as a way to improve upon it.
From now on, there are no "SAFE" entries. Everyone gets feedback, everyone is a top or a bottom. First, I'll go through each contestant in submission order with my feedback, then announce the tops/bottoms/winner, and subsequently, the loser.

Song For the Better - Little Mix - "Power"
I am so intruiged by Little Mix - I saw Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman tour and they (along with Victoria Monet) opened for her and since then I've found their music interesting. This song itself really does stand out to me, and the women empowerment is very clear, specifically in the relationship dynamic ("you're the man, but I got the power"). My only complaint would be that I'm not a huge fan of the feature here because I think that in this track about female empowerment that having a man do a rap in the middle just... really felt out of place. But otherwise, a solid bop.
Cover For the Better - Anna & Vaanfluff - "I See The Light" from Tangled
I really think that the best types of covers are ones that take the original, honor it, but change and improve upon it. Using that criteria, I just don't think this is a "good" cover. It's very much the exact same, using the same backing track and having two singers that aren't as talented as the original Mandy Moore/Zachary Levi or putting forth the same characterization they did. It was a fine song, but there's not really a reason to listen to this when the original exists.

Song For the Better - Beyonce - "Formation"
This is the first song by Beyonce submitted for this entire contest and I'm surprised. This song is an amazing empowerment song for not just women in general, but women of color and it's a bop. This song was such a cultural reset for the industry. Now, I will say that I think Beyonce has other empowerment songs that I may enjoy more as a song, but for this category, this song really did nail it.
Cover For the Better - Nikki Minaj x Pachelbel - "Starships" X "Canon in D"
Okay so there are so many cringe mash-ups on YouTube that combine two songs that have no business ever coming into contact with each other. I found this one myself a few months ago, and oddly enough, this one actually works??! And there's honestly no explanation. As I explained when you originally submitted the Canon in D, I mentioned my distaste for the song because of how repetitive it was but I think that is what helps make it fit here. Now, I will say, that towards the end, there's a little disjointedness, but for the most part, this..

Welcome to the results of Round 9's Song Contest! Sorry this is coming a little late, I've had a busy evening, but let's move right along.
This round, you guys were tasked with submitting the best break-up songs you know. This was a really hard round, because between these 8 songs, there truly wasn't a dud in the bunch. But, we had to narrow it down, so let's move along.
The two "safe" submissions that didn't place in the top three or bottom three are...
J2999 - Lewis Capaldi - "Someone You Loved"
Kevin0621 - Timbaland feat. OneRepublic - "Apologize"
Both of these are decent, well-known songs and were fine enough to keep you guys safe. Let's move on and look at our top three submissions...
FromAWindow - FINNEAS - "Break My Heart Again"
So, I have to admit, while I'm aware of his relation to Billie Eilish, I've never been the biggest fan of her's so I never listened to his music before. But this song really was hauntingly beautiful. It was really good and I hope to look into more of his music to see if it is just as good. Well done this week.
tbrown_47 - Fleetwood Mac - "Go Your Own Way"
'Rumors' is not only the best album of Fleetwood Mac's, but also probably of the entire decade of the 70's. And this track is one of the best they have. The lyrics are really straightforward and tell the story of this breakup really well, but the beat and melody are so solid, not to mention how wonderful the guitar break is. You've come back and knocked it out of the park.
purplebb4 - Robyn - "Missing U"
I gotta say, for someone that only knows like 3 songs of Robyn's, I really enjoy what I know so much (With Every Heartbeat, Dancing on My Own, Call Your Girlfriend) and thought any of those could have been great songs for this category. But this song? It really hit the mark for me. Her songs are just so identifyable and this song just works so well. You've made it back to the top, well done.

Let's move on to our bottom 3... Remember, this was a really strong week, so I'm really grasping at straws here to find flaws with some of these songs.
Insanity - Charli XCX feat. MØ - "3am (Pull Up)"
Alright, sorry to break hearts here, but I'm not the biggest fan of Charli XCX. Her voice just isn't the most pleasant to me, so I have just never really given it a chance. The beat here is good, and I really enjoy the verses and even her voice on them is pretty good. The chorus on the otherhand just wasn't as vocally strong, and I think this song would have been better without MØ. This..

This round was not any easier to judge, because for the most part, these songs were all solid and enjoyable, not to mention, great representations of their movies. ILoveLarry - “I See the Light” from Tangled
Okay, so, I’m a huge Disney nerd and Tangled is one of the best movies Disney has made. And this… is my favorite song from the movie. It’s so sweet, both Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore sing it beautifully, and it perfectly encapsulates both characters tremendously. This was a wonderful submission and the nostalgia really hit me hard with this one. After placing in the bottom 3 twice already, I’m glad you came back strong with this choice.
Christian_ - “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from Burlesque
I think this song perfectly summarizes your journey so far - you started off strong, and barely avoided elimination last week after being in the bottom two weeks in a row. I’m actually not a huge Cher fan, nor have I even seen this movie, but I loved this song and really enjoyed it. Great job this week.
purplebb4 - “Defying Gravity” from Wicked
Sob story moment, but I had a really good friend pass away from a medical condition when I was just 13. She was a huge musical nerd and as a result, my choir sang a tribute to her family at a choir concert with a mash-up of “For Good/Defying Gravity”, and since then, I’m not really able to listen to Wicked without remembering that and feeling emotional. The vocal stylings are just so good and this musical will always get to me. A great song from a great musical.
