Honestly it’s so scary that the conservatives, homophobes, evangelicals, etc. are trying to push the Florida don’t say gay bill into law. Like it’s so fucked up, it’s trying to erase LGBTQ+ history from education as well as harming thousands of children in the Florida Public School System. By outting them to their parents a lot which are probably homophobic and will 100% be unaccepting of their kid’s sexuality or gender idenity and throw them onto the streets or into conversion therapy, which is still legal in Florida. This bill and everything because of it will cause the homeless population to grow, even though it’s LGBTQ+ youth that are a large percentage of the current homeless population in the United States. If this becomes law in Florida, it will end up becoming in many other states in the future, like abortion bans are starting to and millions LGBTQ+ youth will be put into very dangerous situations. On top of that, this will also cause hate crimes towards the LGBTQ+ population to skyrocket. Recently, a homophobe doxxed me and threatened to harm me for being gay. I live in Illinois, which is among the most LGBTQ+ friendly states in the country and this shit is still happening in 2022 and in a state like mine that is supportive and has laws defending the LGBTQ+ population. It’s unacceptable, it’s not okay at all for this shit to be happening in 2022. Have we not learned from what happened Matthew Shepard? As these homophobic bills continue to be proposed and passed in multiple states, this will hurt millions of LGBTQ+ people in the country. The LGBTQ+ population literally fought and threw bricks at stonewall for our rights, we had to deal with the aids crisis that ronald reagan refused to do anything about and on top of that a lot of hate crimes were started against the LGBTQ+ community because of the stigma and homophobia caused by many people in power and in the general public. A lot of LGBTQ military had to deal with don’t ask don’t tell, which would dishonorably discharged LGBTQ citizens who were fighting for this country. Removing LGBTQ+ history from the classroom will add to the homophobia and hate crimes and no one will learn from what happened in the past and these will be continually overlooked and nothing will be done about it. To those who don’t know who Matthew Shepard is, Matthew Shepard was a college student in the 1990s who was severely beaten up and tied to a fence and left to die in Wyoming because he was gay.

Supreme Court rules #LGBTQ people are protected from firing, workplace discrimination by existing civil rights law. WE DID THAT BABY.
Sorry for being political, but stuff like this pisses me off.
So apparently 14 religious leaders, including Rick Warren, are using the "religious freedom" Hobby Lobby Supreme Court ruling to push for discrimination against LGBTQ people. They sent a letter to President Obama basically requesting that religious organizations (that receive federal tax dollars) should have the right to discriminate against employees simply for sexual orientation or gender identity on the grounds of religious freedom. This could be as simple as a religious school firing a groundskeeper for being gay.
