Tim's Music Gauntlet: Episode 5 (RESULTS)

I appreciate all of the submissions so far. Keep up the good work! Unfortunately, at the end of this episode, we will see who will be facing off in the second gauntlet battle of the competition. Here are the comments.
ILoveLarry: Potential Breakup Song - Aly & AJ
I kind of struggled to write any feedback for this song. Even after multiple listens, it just didn’t make me feel anything. This song was definitely catchy, and I did like the guitar riff during the bridge. Otherwise, I have no real positive or negative feelings about this song.
Becksta20: Untouched - The Veronicas
I like how fun this song is. The strings and the beat really make this song. I’m not in love with the vocals, but they don’t take away from the elements of the song that I think really work.
Zach3051: Break My Heart Again - FINNEAS
This song was really nice. I thought he performed the chorus really well; I’m a sucker for low registers so I love how he ends the chorus. The only criticism I have is that for a sad song, I didn’t feel very much sadness or emotion, but maybe I’m just heartless.
Ouijake: Cranes in the Sky - Solange
Nice to see the younger sister getting the spotlight in this challenge. This is an enjoyable song. I really dig the drum beat and definitely feel like this is a song many people relate to. It’s a good submission; we will just have to see how it stacks up with the rest of the field.
Rubes: Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
This might be one of the most iconic song openings ever. Or maybe just one of the most iconic songs ever. It doesn’t crack my list of top Michael songs, but this song makes me want to move and groove. You’d be crazy not to like this song.
GrrrImABear: Alone - Heart
A quintessential 80s power ballad. Ann’s voice is so powerful and stands up the rest of the band. The guitar solo isn’t flashy but it doesn’t need to be - it just works. Honestly, there isn’t much, if anything, I don’t enjoy about this song.
Stuartlittle16: You Lie - The Band Perry
I don’t typically listen to country music, but this was a solid song. I was living for the piano during the bridge. Some of the lyrics were a bit cheesy, but this was a fun song to listen to.
Christian_: The Wire - HAIM
This is a great song. They aren’t the best vocalists, but I think the three of them complement each other well. And the instruments lay a great foundation for the rest of the song - the guitar licks are great and aurally interesting without overpowering any other element of the song. I honestly could listen to this song all day and not get tired of it.
NewNightmare7: Habits - Marmozets
