Ricktworick1's Dishonourable TSC Songs of..

5 ricktworick1, Dec 21, 2017

SOME OF YALL WERE DEFINITELY WAITING FOR THIS
Just a list of 4 songs that were bad for anyone with common sense, but not horrible enough to be featured in my not-so-hot 15.
– All songs sent in TSC between 265 to 300 are eligible (except for the decades, throwback and cover themes, poor Airil Amri won’t get featured, and technically 300 is not eligible then so it should be 265-299 but w/e)
– YET AGAIN, this is based on my personal opinion. Please do not take any offense from what I think of as they are strictly my thoughts, but I have no idea whether this disclaimer is useful because EVERY YEAR I get someone complaining about it. Don’t read it if you get offended, easy as that, if you are gonna cry about that then do it somewhere where you don’t look like a fool.
– Contrary to some weird belief, I don’t believe that my music taste is better than anyone else’s. This list is for you all to have some fun and laugh at possible comments I make.
Sofi Tukker - Best Friend (feat. NERVO, The Knocks & Alisa Ueno) - #Fritzyyyyy, TSC293, 17th, 26 pts

Fritz usually sends some really solid entries, what the fuck happened on that day when he sent that shitty attempt of redefining the EDM scene?
Derrick Barry - Boom Boom (feat. Chris Cox) - #Temeky, TSC296, 21st (last), 9 pts

It's hard to get a song performed by a drag queen right, it's extremely easy to get it so wrong. The fact that Derrick Barry is one of the more unlikeable queens out there probably helps the song quality depreciate even more.
Mr. B The Gentleman Rapper - Just Like a Chap - #Ryan5676, TSC267, 22nd (last), 10 pts

Just look who sent this and you will know why.
We is Shore Dedicated - I Want to Die Easy - #bibbles, TSC285, 22nd, 19 pts

I also want to die easy after this. Lounge music at it's absolute worst, unless you are Corinne Bailey Rae.

Ricktworick1's Top 15 Worst TSC Songs of 2016..

17 ricktworick1, Dec 7, 2016

We are entering the festive season now, so I suppose everyone is coming around for some warmth, positive vibes and some lists of favourite songs, like #fritzyyyyy's. Well, it's time to put it to the end: prepare yourself for a list of 15 dick-sucking, ball-licking songs that I got to hear in TSC this year.
Notes:
- All songs sent in TSC between 226 to 264 are eligible (except for the 70s and 90s themed contests + throwback TSC)
- YET AGAIN, this is based on my personal opinion. Please do not take any offense from what I think of as they are strictly my thoughts, but I have no idea whether this disclaimer is useful because EVERY YEAR I get someone complain about it. Don't read it if you get offended, easy as that, if you are gonna cry about that then do it somewhere where you don't look like a fool.
- Contrary to some weird belief, I don't believe that my music taste is better than anyone else's. This list is for you all to have some fun and laugh at possible comments I make.
- If you are disappointed that your stinker isn't on this list (unlikely), there will be a dishonorable mentions list just for you to fap to your own entry!
15. Karmin - Acapella - #Yoshitomi, TSC253, 14th, 43 pts

Last year, Karmin finished 1st on my best-of list, so this dip in form should honestly make you wonder. I cannot deny Amy's rapping skills - she is probably one of the better female rappers around, but who gives a flying fuck about how talented you are when you get a song like this. The constant tempo changes, weird and ineffective backing vocal and nasally rapping all contribute to the suckage that this song undoubtedly is. This song completely does not know what it wants to be, and that's probably the main problem with it. After they released this song, they never saw charts success ever again, and now you know what is the reason for that.
14. Montaigne - In The Dark - #onemanarmy, TSC259, 16th, 31 pts

I'm all for being unique when it's executed properly, and unfortunately Montaigne got the wrong end of the stick. The backing track and the melody are actually more than decent, probably one of the better ones I heard in TSC this year, but there is one thing that completely ruins it for me: the misuse of special effects on the vocal. It is kind of a mix of tune-yards and a botched robot who malfunctioned while trying to masturbate to some robot porn, and if you really want to look up if such thing actually exists, I'd rather you not go so far with your fantasy. To conclude, this is just a bit painful to listen to.
13. Fergie - M.I.L.F.$ - #QueenMichelle, TSC243, 7th, 69 pts

At the headquarters of will.i.am records:
will.i.am: So L.A. Love did ok on the charts, but for someone from a group as huge as ours, I expected a little more. Do you have any ideas on the concept of your next single? You know what..

Rick's Top 40 Favourite TSC Songs of 2015..

4 ricktworick1, Mar 10, 2016

Notes:
- All songs sent in between TSC 189 to 225 are eligible
- This is based on my personal opinion. Please do not take any offense from what I think of. Strictly my own thoughts
- Contrary to some weird belief, I don't believe that my music taste is better than anyone else's. This list is for you all to have some fun and laugh at possible comments I make.
- I also include some of my own entries, but don't worry, I'm not that arrogant to have more than 10 entries about myself
36. I.Am.L - Lionheart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaJgxMLRleo
Sent by #Fritzyyyyy in TSC195, placed 16th with 47 points.
This song is so irrelevant that it had to be separately uploaded onto YouTube just for TSC, because nobody else actually even tried to bother to share this piece with the public. Well, Fritz didn't exactly share it with a huge group of people, as he made this video fucking unlisted, but maybe that's a good thing, because we can keep this gem only for Tengaged now. Great change of the pace from verses to chorus is honestly what makes this tune so brilliant. Extremely underrated.
35. Sigma - Glitterball (feat. Ella Henderson)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQF5aHVOW5s
Sent by #Fritzyyyyy in TSC203, placed 4th with 85 points.
Sigma, on the other hand, are a very well known british drum'n'bass duo, who consistently produce some great singles. This is far from their best, the lack of power in chorus is the main thing that prevents this song from placing higher on this list. I must admit it has hugely grown on me over the time, though, as in the past I felt like the missing layer in the chorus was extremely detrimental for the value of the tune. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything.
34. Alessia Cara - Here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKp2CrfmVfw
Sent by #Smi9127 in TSC199, placed 8th with 63 points.
Ah, the problems of the introvert that goes to a party, I know a little something about that. There are pretty good reasons why this song made Alessia Cara relevant - the production is pretty exceptional for its ability to keep the one-dimensional melody interesting, and the structure of the song is nothing like I have ever heard before - being able not take that many breaths in between the lines already tells you a lot about the abilities of Alessia. Let's hope she consistently pulls off stuff like this.
33. Faouzia - Knock On My Door
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0t0hYKGXrg
Sent in TSC224 by #Nerdbird44, placed 1st with 110 points.
I was honestly shocked when I found out that she was younger than I am. She sounds like someone that has graduated from a music college, and to find out that she's only a teenager honestly made me mind-blown. Together with the great backings and some cheesy, yet effective instruments, her debut in TSC landed her a win, and it's not really shocking considering the quality of this..

Top 30 TSC Songs since my start: #21-#19

8 ricktworick1, Jan 7, 2015

Notes:
- This is obviously my own opinion, why in the world would I make this list if it wasn't subjective?
- I've started my TSC journey in 2011, from TSC60, so obviously many other good songs might be missing.
- I might be a bit harsh on some stuff, so do not take it personally.
- I will include some of my songs, but this isn't going to be all about me list at all.
21. tUnE-yArDs - Water Fountain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbiFcPhccu8
Sent by #Fritzyyyyy in TSC163, finished 11th with 63 points.
Some of you might be wondering what this more than a huge mess of a song is doing on the list of Best Songs. Her voice is more than slightly annoying, but as I've mentioned in my previous posts, I tend do like songs that might grate the shit out of everyone. What really makes this tune wonderful is the well-thought production of meshing many genres together, it wasn't only me who enjoyed that, since it was given an acceptable placing in its TSC. It just doesn't sound western at all, it is something completely different to what I can listen to in TSC, and its uniqueness is one of the main reasons why this single made it to number 21 on the list of my favourite TSC songs.
20. Sigma - Changing (feat. Paloma Faith)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAeotgCHL3E
Sent by #Js21 in TSC172, finished 2nd with 96 points.
The reason behind Sigma's success is not because they reproduced the horseshit music made by Kanye West, which included a very nice singing part by Charlie Wilson - that part would later give Sigma the idea to create their breakthrough hit "Nobody To Love". The reason why Sigma is successful is the fact that they are hella good producers, and this song is the pure example. One of the biggest club bangers of this year, even the radio wasn't unable to make me dislike this song after hearing it for the first time in TSC. Some time after the contest, this single would become their second #1 hit in the UK, but this production is superior in comparison to their previous one, as they included one of the best british singers of this decade, Paloma Faith (replacing the irrelevant guy from Nobody To Love), who is probably the main reason why this tune is amazing.
19. Jessie Ware - Wildest Moments
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMJkddvJ4L4
Sent by Jubbzy in TSC99, finished 2nd with 127 points.
I suppose the person who was editing the doc for TSC after the 99th contest wasn't really happy with doing that job, considering the fact that in the doc this song is called "Wildest Things". Not sure what kind of Wild Things did the editor of the document have during that night, as it certainly is not the title of this amazing tune. While this single isn't crazy or anything, it certainly one of the most balanced pop songs that has come to my spotlight, it's something rare for this genre not to have something that sounds forced nowadays. Such a shame Jessie Ware wasn't able to top this production, but..
