The Estonian HOD has listened to hundreds of potential entries and has decided on six songs from dedicated acts that want to represent Estonia in Greece.
Tonight, we have six acts competing to represent Estonia. They are:
1. Greip
2. Aprillo
3. Roderic H
4. Elin
5. Kaia-Liisa Kesler
6. Daniel Levi
The pointing system will be the following. 12 points to your favourite, 10 points to your next favourite and then 8, 5, 3, 1.
Without further ado, let’s welcome our first act…Greip!
Greip is a 6 person acapella ensemble from Pärnu. They have been singing together since 2006. This is the first time competing to become Estonia’s entrant in ESCT however you may recognise the alto singer Mari Holm who represented Estonia in the second chance contest in ESCT 28 with her song ‘Mari Oli Maias’ which placed 16th. Greip pride themselves on delivering Estonian folk music in a contemporary way.
Aprillo a singer-songwriter who discovered that life is too short not to share the music she has in her head. She is an international DJ and has had a career as a presenter. “Love The Door” is a track about the intricacies of belonging. This is the first time she has been selected to compete in an Estonian national final.
Roderic H is a music producer and keyboard player. He has been studying piano and accordion since he was 7 years old. He is the keyboardist and music writer for the pop-rock band ‘Maria Stuart’ but here he is debuting with his own music with the Estonian vocalist Hanna Ojamets.
Elin is also making her first entry into an Estonian national final. In a world full of numbers and data, Elin invites you on a journey to awaken your imagination. She wants you to relax and enjoy the ride with her electronic pop mixed with cinematic soundscapes.
Kaia-Liisa Kesler has worked with mainstream Estonian artists like Inger and Jaagup Tuisk. In fact, she was part of the team that was behind Jaagup’s hit ‘Beautiful Lie’. She is now going solo with her first ESCT NF entry ‘Carry On’ which tells us about the importance getting out of your head and having to leave some things behind in order to move on.
Daniel Levi is household name in Estonia, regularly appearing on national TV and radios and gaining more and more attention internationally. Their journey through music has taken Daniel Levi across different tones and exciting sound experiments. This is the second time Daniel Levi have tried to represent Estonia in ESCT. In the ESCT 37 National Final they came 8th with their song ‘Uncle John’.
Please send your votes to catch_a_falling_star, SeaViper or eesticatch (or alternatively to Alexito who will pass them onto me).
Our colleague and friend SeaViper will be hosting the national final results show.
Funny enough, Aly Ryan just discovered she has some Estonian in her ancestry! Thank you for allowing her to visit her homeland to vote in this lovely NF!
