Hello Europe! Welcome to Vidbir 37, the new/returning selection format to choose Ukraine's representative in ESCT. We have 12 acts performing tonight for the prestigious right to represent Ukraine in Iceland, and the winner is up to YOU.

Here's a quick preview of all the artists competing for your vote tonight.

SONG 1: Olya Polyakova - "Nochnaya zhritsa"

Olya Polyakova is a Ukrainian singer, TV presenter and comedian known as Super Blonde. She's gained prominence across Eastern Europe for her eccentric entertainment style, beyond music, and has actually appeared in ESCT before, representing Belarus with "Russian Style" in #7, and unfortunately failed to qualify. She's hoping "Nochnaya zhritsa" will be a change in fate!

SONG 2: Folknery - Karchata

Folknery is a Ukrainian band known for its blend of musical, ethnographical, traveling and cinematographic components. The musical style of the band is a mix of authentic Ukrainian singing in free-folk arrangement involving elements of different trends of the world folk and popular music. They are making their Vidbir and ESCT debut with "Karchata".

SONG 3: Artem Pivovarov - 2000

Artem Pivovarov is a Ukrainian singer from Vovchansk. He's hoping to make his first ESCT appearance with "2000", an example of the dark electronic dance-pop music he's gained popularity in his home country with.

SONG 4: Akine - Pray for the Prey

Akine is the stage name of Nicole Kozina, a Ukrainian-Monegasque indie-pop singer. She claims to be influenced by bands such as NIrvana and Daughter, and aims to speak about societal problems through her music. She'll be hoping that "Pray for the Prey" can bring her to the stage in Iceland.

SONG 5: ONUKA - Zenit

ONUKA is an electro-folk band from Ukraine, created by Yevhen Filatov and Nata Zhyzhchenko. You may recognise them as one of the interval acts at Eurovision 2017. Their instrumentation includes electronic drums, trombones, French horns and Ukrainian folk instruments bandura and sopilka, and they'll be hoping to win voters over with "Zenit".

SONG 6: Artik & Asti - Devochka tantsuy

Artik & Asti are an Ukrainian pop duo formed in 2010, founded by producer Artyom Umrikhin (Artik) and singer Anna Dziuba (Asti). They're also hoping to make their ESCT debut with electronic pop song "Devochka tantsuy".

SONG 7: KADNAY - Polon

KADNAY is an indie pop/rock band from Ukraine formed in 2012 by Dmitry Kadnai and Philip Kolyadenko. They perform in Ukrainian, Russian, and English. This song, "Polon", is in Ukrainian, and KADNAY will be hoping to take the first flight to Iceland with it.

SONG 8: Alina Pash - Bosorkanya

Alina Pash is a Ukrainian singer and rapper who rose to prominence after becoming a finalist on the 6th season of The X Factor Ukraine. For her music she combines hip-hop, electronic, pop and folk and "Bosorkanya" is the song she's aiming to win the voters over with.

SONG 9: Fo Sho - Xtra

Fo Sho is an Afro-Ukrainian hip hop group consisting of three sisters, Betty, Siona and Miriam Endale. Formed in 2019, they call themselves a "comedy hip-pop-RapnB-soul-folk band", and they're competing in Vidbir with "Xtra".

SONG 10: The Hardkiss - Antarctica

The Hardkiss, sometimes stylised as The HARDKISS, is a Ukrainian rock band formed in 2011. Fronted by Julia Sanina, they're known for their unique fashion style and original sound. They've appeared twice in ESCT before, first finishing 11th in the semi in #19, then 8th in the final in #28, and they're hoping "Antarctica" can be third time lucky and bring the contest back to Ukraine.

SONG 11: Max Barskih - Ley, ne zhaley

The top result that comes up when you search Max Barskih is "max barskih gay". Max Barskih is the stage name of Mykola Mykolaiovych Bortnyk because that never would've caught on. He specialises in dance pop music and has been active since 2008 when he participated in Ukrainian talent show Fabrika Zirok (Star Factory). He came dead last in the final back in ESCT #13, but he's hoping "Ley, ne zhaley" can serve as redemption.

SONG 12: MARUV - To Be Mine

The final artist of the selection is MARUV, stage name of Anna Korsun. Wikipedia calls her a Ukrainian singer, composer, poet and producer. She's already appeared in ESCT with the infamous "Siren Song", and is now hoping to come back under a slightly less controversial light with "To Be Mine".
