ESCT 33's Austrian Entry,
Rebecca_1147 - 'Better off Alone'
Welcome to another edition of 'Wer singt für Österreich?', Austrian National Preselection for ESCT 34. We'll get directly to the serious business.
Today, there will be 6 songs, by 6 different participants, one of them will travel to Bucharest for the ESCT 34 big show. The format will change a little bit this time, the major rule will consist on the fact that the 50-50 method of International/Internal Jury will not be used. There will be 10 jurors (2 internal jurors, 3 auxiliar jurors and 5 international jurors that are participating with other countries in the contest) that will all count the same as percentage of the score. The voting method is unchanged:
6th place - 1 point
5th place - 4 points
4th place - 5 points
3rd place - 6 points
2nd place - 8 points
1st place - 12 points
At the end, the song that gets the biggest amount of points will win the selection and will represent Austria in ESCT 34.
The vote will be open until Sunday, 14th of April 2019. With that being said, let the show begin!
1. Virginia Ernst - 'Looking In These Eyes Now'
Virginia Ernst is a pretty well-known pop-rock singer in Austria, and former representant in ESCT 16, where she qualified to the big final, finishing 14th. She is also tried to come back and participated some editions of Wer Singt Fur Osterreich but failing to get back into the contest. She's pretty solid this time with the charmful ballad 'Looking in These Eyes Now'.
2. Pizzera & Jaus - 'Danke, Gut!'
No new names here as well, the duo Pizzera & Jaus, the former participants in ESCT Second Chance Contest 30 are back with the rock song of the evening 'Danke, Gut!', wanting to steal the show and put a good mood into the audience as usual.
3. Leo Aberer ft. Seroney - 'Mamacita'
Also a 2nd Chance participant, back in the first edition of that contest, the latino lover Leo Aberer is back to make everybody move, this time in a collaboration with the African singer Seroney, with the exotic up-tempo music of 'Mamacita'.
And here is the hero from last year's Eurovision, the already well-known pop singer Cesar Sampson, 3rd place in Eurovision 2018 is trying to make a debut in ESCT as well with the song 'Stone Cold'.
5. AVEC - 'Still'
Last edition's Second Chance Contest bronze medallist AVEC is back, this time wanting to get even higher and get into the big ESCT contest with the 'country' vibing song named 'Still'. They were very close to win 2 competitions last edition, now they're back for revenge.
6. Mia Nova - 'You Know My Name'
And finally we have the most unusual entry, with the violonist Mia Nova going for a very modern mix between orchestral and modern instrumental in the song 'You Know My Name'. She is debuting in Austria's selections, totally reminding of Lindsey Stirling.
Interval Act:
Please welcome Uku Suviste with the song 'Pretty Little Liar'. This is the entry that will represent Estonia in ESCT 34. We wish him the best of luck!
