The game is set in three phases:
1. Phase 1:
- Phase 1 last from final 15 to final 7. In phase 1 you will be asked to post a single song
based off a predetermined theme for the round.
- In phase 1, there may be the twist of a returning player(s) to compete back into
JUSSC and will be in the running to win the title and T prize.
2. Phase 2:
- Phase 2 last from the final 6 to the final 3.
- In phase 2, each remaining contestant will be required to post two songs each round.
These two songs will be determined by a theme that correlates with each other.
3. Phase 3/Finale:
- Phase 3 of the game is the finale. Two contestants will remain and compete one last
time to achieve the crown.
- Phase 3 will consist of posting three songs each, once again to fit a predetermined
theme of the round.
- As an additional piece of information, on top of the regular round rankings based off
the songs… your progress will be tracked across the season. An additional factor of your
overall average placement will be taken into consideration, and will be an extra
variable in deciding your overall placement for the round to determine the winner. To
see how this will work, and how important it can be to place well… look at the
season 4 finale!
Round Specific Rules:
1. Deadlines:
- Each round, you will have 24 hours to post your required song(s). If you fail to do so,
you may be automatically ranked at the bottom and will go home.
- If more than one contestant fails to post, it will be determined randomly through
random.org which contestant is eliminated.
- If a contestant misses a 24 hour deadline, there will be a predetermined guide to
assign penalty points. The absolute deadline is by the time results are posted, if not by
then, the contestant is going to be DQ'd. However, if the contestant is a repeat
offender then it may result in a DQ even if they posted before the results show.
- Below follows the official guideline of assigning penalty points:
1-6 hours: 1 point
6-18 hours: 2 points
19-24 hours: 3 points
25-36 hours: 4 point
27-48 hours: 5 point
49-60 hours: 6 point
61-72 hours: 7 points
For every offense you have, it will then multiply by the number of points designated in
the bracket. i.e. If you were 19 hours late in your submission, and it was your third time
being late it would be 3 x 3 = 9 penalty points added to your pre-averaged score.
2. Judging:
- To determine the round winner, there will be a process to gather every judges
opinion for a consensus loser.
- Each judge will rank the songs (1-amount of songs posted). From there, we will
average the judges rankings to find an official round ranking of the contestants. The
contestant at the bottom of the round ranking will be eliminated.
- Results will be posted in a goal timeframe of 24 hours, but on occasion may take up
to 72 hours! If we miss the 72 hour deadline please be patient. The judge who failed to
send in their ranks will be skipped over for that round. Additionally, we will ALWAYS
try to get it in that timeframe but we do have a life and the things can happen to
delay. Remember - ranking, commenting, averaging, and consolidating the information
for each results show is a lot of work and can take some time!
3. Themes:
- Each round will have a specific theme, which will bring specific guidelines and
possible twist to the round. Contestants are expected to follow the guidelines when
choosing their song.
- If we don’t feel your song theme works will with the theme, we will notify you and
ask you to post a different song.
4. Songs:
- Not only can you not post any song previously used in season 2… contestants will not
be allowed to post any songs from ANY previous season (unless the guidelines
specifically say so). A word doc has been created and accessible to double check you
aren't using a song that has already been used.
- If we catch that you used a song from a previous season or that it has been previously
used in the current season we will do our best to notify you, but ultimately it is up to
you as the contestant to double check.
5. Twists:
- Throughout the season, there are pre-planned twist that will occur throughout the
season. These will be held confidential until the time is ready for the game!
6. Banns:
- If you receive a bann throughout the season it WILL result in a DQ.
7. Safe Place Environment:
- Having constructive criticism is allowed, and contestants can have their opinions, but
including hate and creating an environment that is uncomfortable for contestants
and/or judges may result in immediate disqualification.
Have fun with the competition! We are hoping for this to be an enjoyable experience for all parties involved! :)
*Rules are subject to change if essential. If there is a rule change, it will be to incorporate fairness that the judges might have overlooked. Any decision that will be made, will be transparent and will be open to a discussion if need be.
