Aishah Ali!
Ladies. I am obsessed with FX’s “Pose”. The drama. The humor. But most importantly... the balls! Yes ladies, the time has come : we are throwing a ball! But not any ball, this week is all about MOI! So this is the (i)Talian Ball!
What is a ball? I am glad you asked.
You will be asked to bring to the runway three different looks following three different themes. First theme is ...
🌃 Italian Cities Couture : Inside the following envelopes there are 8 different concepts. One for each of you and each inspired to a different Italian location. Aishah, as this week’s mini challenge winner. You will assign each contestant their location. Here are the envelopes :
PM me your picks as soon as you can.
I will reveal the other two themes after picks are done.
Theme 2
🏺 Classic Statue Realness : Imagine those white marble Greek/Roman statues. Pretty self explanatory. *whispers* Limbs are optional.
Theme 3
🥧 Night of a Thousand Twinkies : I want you to embody your favorite look of mine. I don’t need a recreation to the tea. Just reinvent one of Twinkies’s looks to make them fit your personality (looking at you Holden). But also there still needs some sort of direct linking between the two. Here are my fav looks of mine but you can use literally any look of Twinkies you want (she participated in Macda’s Drag Race Season 3 , La-Haute and she has a different look for every runway of this race) :
You have 60 hours.
Good luck ladies and don’t fuck it up.
But if you do, prepare to lipsync to the Italian queen herself (sorry Gaga) :
CF: Sardinia is an ancient land of mystery. To convey that, I'm mixing the old and the new. The ram's skull and black cloak represent ancient paganism while the rest of the outfit is a modern take on what a warlock would wear.
CF: I AM APOLLO! Or a statue of him, at least. I know what you're thinking. "Why didn't you use gold you basic fuck?!" I think that bronze works better with the color of the stone.
For my look I've decided to use the denim to make a beautiful opera gown as an homage to Genoa's history with opera. Dispite being thrown somewhat of a curveball, I think this look is really elegant!
I've chosen to go for a little bit of a story with this outfit. A fallen hero in roman folklore, their statue slowly crumbling to dust as the ages go by and less and less remember who she actually is.
For my Twinkies look, I've chosen to go for the cupcake look that she served all the way back in season 2 but I've given it a little bit of a refreshing lemon and lime twist! The lemon and limes represent my sweetness but also my sharpness when it comes to cutting a bitch.
Overall, I think I did a good job with what I was given for all three looks and I'm praying that this will be a return to form for me.
I look rich I look expensive and I really look like I'm from that time period, or that I'm guest staring on the show Reign but either way I look fucking elegant.
I decided to go for an opulent and grandiose version as was the great Roman Empire, highlighting the greatness of my Look with my two elements: gold and laurel. I took different elements of Roman culture and Roman architecture, and also decided to create a look over the top, because the situation merited it.
This is my version of the birth of Venus found at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. Sensual, innocent, representing one of the most important goddesses of Roman mythology.
I decided to represent this look because I think it is one of those that best represents Talian's talent. It is a strong and at the same time vulnerable look because of the context where it was created and the theme it represents. But I decided to give it a spin to take it much more to my style. Twinkies is not afraid to show his body and celebrate it, in the original we can see a lot of skin, but I am much more sober in my Looks, so I make a balance between showing a lot and showing little. I used some elements of the first look also to give it cohesiveness, and added elements of my aesthetic.
