Media and fashion often create unrealistic body images towards their audience which cause many people to feel insecure about their own body. Models often have very specific requirements (height, body measurements) and some of them have been told to lose weight by their agencies in which many models are also insecure about themselves.
Adriana believes that this is not a healthy way to live after a friend approached her and said that she is insesecure with her own body. Being a model herself, she wakes up everyday thinking, "how do I look?" and realizes many other women are probably also trying to fit in that stereotype so she wants to make a change. After retiring from Victoria's Secret after 19 years in November, she has plans to work on projects to empower women and believes that every women should be able to embrace themselves for who they are.
*I think that it is important to note that when Adriana was talking about "not taking her clothes off for an empty cause" she was talking about the "love advent calendar" and not other things like Victoria's Secret since she believes that VS is empowering to women since it represents confidence and powerful women.
So for this photoshoot, I am presenting a photo where she is showing confidence, power, and strength where she is comfortable and confident in her own body and embracing herself. This is breaking bounderies because many other models do not feel that way about themselves.
