GARDEN OF EDEN
Objective: Cast the colored apples to become the new King of Liars!
SETUP:
1. The LGT collects 100m yen from each player before starting the game.
2. This game has a limit of 10 rounds. Each round lasts 24 hours. The game may end before all rounds have been completed.
3. Each player starts with 0 points, points can be negative.
a. If a player has a score of -5 points or fewer, the Dealer will publicly identify that player and eliminate them from the game.
4. Each player will prepare a basket to earn points through harvesting Gold & Silver apples (See ‘BASKET’ section).
5. Each player receives 3 Pink apples for manipulating scoring for the round (See ‘APPLES’ section)
6. Each player receives a time bank of ONE (1) 24-hour period. A period may activate by request or by inactivity. If it is activated upon request, that player is not revealed. Activating upon inactivity is public knowledge.
a. If a player is inactive and doesn’t have any time bank periods remaining, that player is identified by the Dealer, drops out of the game, and pays an additional 100m yen to the LGT.
BASKET:
1. Before round 1, each player will create a basket in the Basket Period.
2. The basket will be an ordered list of 2-5 Gold & Silver apples.
3. Casting a winning color harvests the apple for the Basket prepared during the Basket Period.
a. Players may only harvest Gold & Silver apples in the order they have listed (Ex: 1- Gold, 2- Silver, 3- Silver)
4. If you are able to harvest (by winning the round), but need the opposite color for your next apple, you fail to harvest that round. You cannot “start over” an incomplete basket.
5. Once a player completes their basket, bonus points are earned and are automatically awarded.
6. Points are given based on how many apples are needed to complete the basket
a. Two apples: 1 point
b. Three apples: 2.5 points
c. Four apples: 5 points
d. Five apples: 7.5 points
7. Upon completing a basket, players can harvest apples for another basket identical to the one prepared during the Basket Period.
APPLES: There are 6 type of apples in this game, as detailed below.
1. GOLD & SILVER: Primary winning colors.
a. If GOLD is the winning color, players who cast GOLD earn 1.5 points. If SILVER is the winning color, players who cast SILVER earn 1 point. Winning players harvest that color for their own basket if possible (You must harvest if able).
b. Players casting a losing color each lose 1 point. If Gold and Silver are tied (and there is no RED), both players are considered losing colors and all players lose 1 point.
c. If all players cast GOLD or all players cast SILVER, then both colors are considered losing colors and all players lose 1 point.
2. PINK: Change the Outcome.
a. Normally, the game is scored by majority as the winning color. If there are an ODD number of pink apples cast during the round, then the round will be scored by minority as the winning color.
b. Pink apples can be cast along with GOLD & SILVER, and along with WHITE & BLACK apples if desired.
c. Pink apples rules:
i. Consecutive casting of PINK carries a 0.5 point penalty.
ii. Each player receives 3 PINK apples at the start of the game.
iii. A player can cast a free PINK apple during the round that player casts a BLACK apple.
3. WHITE: Win!
a. If WHITE is cast along with the winning color, and NOBODY else casts WHITE OR BLACK with the winning color, that player automatically wins the game!
b. White can only be cast when the player has at least 4 points OR if the player has -4 points or fewer.
i. The player cannot have cast BLACK in the previous round with less than 4 points.
ii. If a player has -4 or fewer points, they cannot have cast RED during the game.
c. WHITE apples can be cast along with PINK if desired.
d. Extra rules for WHITE apples:
i. If multiple players cast WHITE with the winning color, those players instead lose 1 point for the round instead of any other gains, unless the player is casting with -4 points or fewer. In which case, the player casting White has no change in score.
ii. If anybody casts WHITE with the losing color, they instead lose 3 points for the round.
iii. If a player would win from casting WHITE alone, but a player Cast BLACK with the winning color, then the player casting WHITE instead has no change in score.
4. BLACK: Raise the Stakes.
a. BLACK apples can be cast in addition to GOLD & SILVER, and PINK if desired.
b. If cast with the winning color (GOLD or SILVER), then the player earns 3 points and negates any player casting WHITE from winning the game.
c. If cast with the losing color, then the player is revealed, becomes an automatic loser, and is eliminated from the game.
i. Players casting BLACK receive a free PINK apple to cast if they so desire. The free pink is use-or-lost. It is limited to the current round the player is casting BLACK.
5. RED: Does trust exist?
a. When ALL player cast RED, ALL PLAYERS WIN!
i. Red must be cast alone.
ii. Red cannot be cast if a player has been eliminated for any reason except inactivity.
b. If there are 2+ GOLD and/or SILVER apples cast in a round where RED is cast by at least one player, then both GOLD & SILVER are considered winning colors, regardless of how the round would be scored.
c. If only one player casts RED, then that player is revealed, becomes an automatic loser, and is eliminated from the game.
d. If only one player casts GOLD or SILVER and everyone else casts RED, then the player casting GOLD/SILVER automatically wins!
GAMEPLAY:
1. Each round, players must cast one of the following apples: Gold, Silver, or Red
a. If a player has been eliminated for any reason except inactivity, RED apples are locked for the remainder of the game and cannot be cast.
2. In addition to casting GOLD/SILVER, players may cast any of the following apples:
a. PINK, assuming the player has any remaining or is also casting BLACK
b. WHITE, when the player has at least 4 points, or less than/equal to -4 points (without casting Red), and the player did not cast BLACK in the prior round with less than 4 points.
c. BLACK, can be cast in any round.
SCORING:
1. At the start of each round, the Dealer checks for a winner. Otherwise, the dealer will mail each player their updated score based on the apples cast and the winning color(s).
2. The dealer will publicly reveal the number of GOLD, SILVER, & RED apples cast.
3. The dealer will publicly reveal if the round is won by Majority or Minority.
4. The dealer will publicly reveal any eliminated players (if applicable).
ENDGAME:
1. The game ends once one of the following conditions are met…..and the result!
a. One player alone is able to successfully cast WHITE……that player wins!
b. One player alone casts GOLD or SILVER and all other players cast RED……that lone player casting GOLD or SILVER wins!
c. All players cast RED……The LGT will award all players in this game 500m yen. In this case, there will NOT be a liar King, but all players will be acknowledged as co-winners.
d. There are Two players remaining in the game……the player with the most points will become the winner. If it’s still a tie, then the player with the most yen in their bank account will become the winner.
e. 10 Rounds have passed…… the player with the most points will become the winner. If it’s still a tie, then the player with the most yen in their bank account will become the winner.
2. The Dealer will post the final points for each player and the result, unless the game ended because all players cast RED apples. If the game ends this way, then the final points will not be revealed.
3. The Liar King will collect 500m yen from the losers (100m yen from each). If victory was due to being the sole player casting GOLD/SILVER and all others casting RED (Rule 1b in this section), then the LGT will award an extra 500m yen to that player.
MISCELLANEOUS
1. All bank accounts are permanently locked forever unless all players cast RED apples.
2. If all players cast RED apples, then the players will earn a 48-hour period to make any bank transfers for sentimental reasons, because the tournament concludes with this game.
