This gauntlet is called “Black Hole” and here’s how it works…

In front of you is a triangle board with 21 spaces, which looks as follows:

Each player will have 10 tokens numbered from 1-10. Players will alternate placing counters onto empty spaces on their turn. You may choose any counter to place on any turn. You only have 1 of each token, so make sure to keep track of what you have remaining.

Once all 20 counters are placed, the game ends. There will be ONE space that remains empty. That space is the “Black Hole.” Each player will sum the value of their counters IMMEDIATELY SURROUNDING the black hole, as those tokens are sucked into the void.

Each match will play two games, with each player being the starting player once. We will do a coin flip for who goes first in the initial game. The player with the LOWEST total over the two games will win the Gauntlet and return to their team. The loser will be eliminated.

Obviously this challenge works better if both players can be online at the same time, but if we cannot coordinate that, then when you get online, be sure to post your next move as in “I place piece x in space y” so we can keep the game moving along!

I would like to have the gauntlet completed Friday August 3rd at 10 PM EST, but if we need to make an exception to schedule on Saturday, that is fine as well.
