This Head of Household competition is called “Investment and Donation”, and here’s how it works.
In this strategy competition, you must invest and donate your money for 7 rounds, attempting to obtain the MAJOR shareholder label, while avoiding the MISER label.
Each player will begin the game with $150, given to them in the following banknote increments:
- 10 x $1 banknotes
- 10 x $5 banknotes
- 4 x $10 banknotes
- 1 x $50 banknotes
NOTE: This money cannot be divided into change. That means, you must only play amounts allowed by the banknotes you have available.
In each round you may INVEST and DONATE any amount of your bank notes, specifically noting WHICH notes you are using each time. You may elect to only Invest or only Donate in a particular round, or you may choose to Invest AND Donate in the same round. You can even choose NOT to Invest or Donate at all in a round and keep all your money.
Either way you must state what you wish to put in for each round. I will post a template below in which you must fill in all the details for each round, making it clear how many of which banknotes you are using each time.
The highest investor in each round will receive a MAJOR shareholder label, and the lowest donator in each round will receive a MISER label.
There are rules in the event of a tie for labels each round. If multiple players INVESTED the same highest amount of money in a round, NONE of them will receive a MAJOR label – in fact the player(s) who donated the 2nd biggest amount receives it instead!
However, if multiple players DONATED the least money, they will ALL receive a MISER label. So ensure you donate enough to avoid it!
The only player immune from receiving the MISER label in each round is the player who wins the MAJOR label. In this instance, if there are no other tied players for lowest, the player who donated the 2nd lowest amount will receive it instead.
After all 7 rounds are calculated, the player with the highest score after their MISER labels are deducted from their MAJOR labels will become the new HEAD of HOUSEHOLD.
In the event of a tie, the player with the most MAJOR labels alone wins the tie. If still tied, then the player who donated the most money in total wins. If still tied then it may be a Co-HOH situation.
