In today's word-forming competition, you will be tasked with using as few players as possible to reach specific letter totals, in order to avoid getting penalty points.
Here’s how it works. I will post a prefix consisting of two letters, and players have to MAIL words starting with those two letters. Alongside this I will post a number total indicating the number of letters you need to get to, by forming words with that prefix.
EXAMPLE: If the code was “SU”, you could have “Survivor”, which is 8 letters. If the number total was 20, you’d need to form words with 12 more letters to reach the total.
The catch is, you want to get to that total in LESS words than the other tribe, and each player is only allowed to sent ONE word per round. Each subsequent word MUST be sent by a different player, and the same word cannot be used twice by the same tribe. You also ideally want to hit the target number too, as you’ll get penalised for being above or below it. Rounds only last 90 seconds, in which all of a tribe’s words must be sent.
Penalty points are given as follows:
- 3 penalty points for each word you use to get to that total MORE than the other tribe (i.e. if Tribe A used 5 words and Tribe B used 3 words, Tribe A would get 6 penalty points - 3 for each extra word above Tribe B’s total).
- 1 penalty point per letter out from the target number (i.e. if the tribe finished on 16 letters when the total is 20, the tribe gets 4 penalty points).
After 5 rounds, the tribe with the LEAST penalty points wins IMMUNITY, sending the losing tribe to Tribal Council.
