Previously On The Amazing Race...

12 Teams of 2 set off for a journey around the world. At Soldier Field, the starting line, teams were confronted with a Starting Line Task. While Anthony/Alex, Romeo/JT, and Joey/Mike all rose to the occasion. Allie/Patrick and Jack/Tiffany floundered, becoming frustrated at the task. However, it was Jonah/Becca who suffered the most, earning a one hour time penalty at the airport for failing the Starting Line Task.

Teams soon figured out that they were heading to Panama City for their first leg of the race. Once in Panama City, teams rushed to the F&F Tower, and while nearly all teams chose to travel by taxi, Josh and Ty took the metro putting them in last place from their arrival.

Given a picture of Plaza de la Independencia, many teams struggled to figure out where they were going. However, all teams eventually got it together to discover their first Detour of the season.

With the choice to pray for luck or draw with some skill, many teams chose to pray. While the prayers were answered for Max/Nolan and Jonah/Becca; Will/Brad and Josh/Ty found that God just was not listening to them today. At the Art Detour, Dylan/James and Anthony/Matty sailed through seamlessly. However, Tomas/Grace started having too much fun at the Panama Art Society and lost track of time.

In the end it was Joey and Mike who arrived in 1st place....

But it was Tomas and Grace who had their fun ride cut too short...

Episode 2: "What? Were still racing!!!!!!!! We made it to the Pit Stop." -Jack/Tiffany

PLEASE NOTE: This is a special TWO HOUR episode of the amazing race.

Teams departed from the first Pit Stop in a race around the world, Panama National Theater.
When teams were given a cipher to figure out their next clue, Nolan turned to insulting his partner, Max, after a failed attempt. While Romeo/JT made quick work of the puzzle.

At the first Roadblocks, teams were encountered with a life-game of Frogger at the Camino de Cruces National Park. Although Allie struggled and became very frustrated, it was Patrick, who came to rescue and became her cheerleader, motivating her to finish the task. After finishing their game of Frogger, teams discovered it was time to make their way to a new country...Colombia.

When teams arrived at the Panama Pacifico Airport, they were quick to discover flights were being chartered on first come, first serve basis.

On Flight 1, with only 3 available spots, departing at 12:13 PM and arriving at 1:16 PM was:

On Flight 2, with only 4 available spots, departing at 1:20 PM and arriving at 2:23 PM was:
Allie/Patrick
Jonah/Becca
Matty/Anthony

On Flight 3, with only 4 available spots, departing at 2:27 PM and arriving at 3:30 PM was:
Dylan/James
Jack/Tiffany
Josh/Ty
Will/Brad

Once teams landed in Cartagena, Colombia, they were given a picture of the location to their next clue, Monumento India Catalina. Although some teams, like Jonah/Becca and Jack/Tiffany, struggled to figure out where they were going, it was the Detour that proved even more challenging.

With the options to Bet On It, which involved pure luck game of Higher and Lower, or Roll With It, which had teams solve math problems or roller towels should they answer incorrectly, many teams found themselves stuck in a nightmare. At Bet On It, Josh/Ty and Nolan/Max found great success. While Anthony/Matty and Dylan/James found themselves stuck at the casino for longer than expected. At Roll With It, Romeo/JT and Joey/Mike glided through easily. However, Will/Brad, Alex/Anthony, and Allie/Patrick found themselves stuck in their meeting much longer than expected.

After completing the Detour, teams received instructions to head to the next Pit Stop, el Castillo de San Felipe Barajas.

However how will teams react to the non-elimination leg, and more importantly, receiving their next clue to start Leg 3?

Episode 2- Part 2: "What? Were still racing!!!!!!!! We made it to the Pit Stop." -Jack/Tiffany

With Will and Brad marked for elimination, will they be able to rise up to the challenge in front of them and catch up? Or will their 30 minute penalty knock them out? And most importantly what obstacles face our teams as they continue racing?

As teams received news that they were still racing, anger and anguish filled teams. Teams were immediately instructed to head back to the airport as they were leaving for a new country. Although most teams chose to travel by taxi, JT/Romeo chose to save money by taking the Metro, which effectively cost them a spot on the first flight.

At the airport, teams found out that there were two, incredibly long overnight flights to get them to their new location, Rio de Jainero.

Here are how the flights broke down:

FLIGHT #1:
LATAM Airlines Group 4111 departing from Cartagena to Bogota at 3:44 pm, arriving at 5:10 pm.  Avianca 51 departing from Bogota to Rio de Janeiro  at 5:25 pm, arriving at 4:45 am with a connection via Lima, Peru.

Although there were 5 available spots, only 4 teams made it to the airport in time to catch this flight

FLIGHT #2:
LATAM Airlines Group 4121 departing from Cartagena to Bogota at 7:53 pm, arriving at 9:19 pm. Avianca 261 departing from Bogota to Rio de Janeiro  at 10:18 pm, arriving at 6:35 am.

Once there, teams headed for REDEMPTION, by visiting Christ the Redeemer. Upon arrival, teams discovered a grueling Roadblock which involved a long hike up and down Christ the Redeemer to collect letters to spell the word REDEEM. Most teams begrudgingly did the task, however, Josh and Matty both chose not to complete, opting to take a 4 hour penalty instead. While Anthony and Will, ran through the trail, redeeming themselves of past mistakes.

After the Roadblock, teams were pleasantly surprised to discover they were going to the Pit Stop at Maracanazinho. However, some teams were shocked that the venue did not open until 8:30 AM, and with a Route Info task awaiting, it became a close race. Before being allowed to check in, teams had to complete a series of volleyball passes within a certain time limit. Once completed, they could head directly outside, to the Pit Stop...
