Humans are the prominent species in current times in the land. Humans are capable of magic but it's a rare gift few have. Most humans either turn to knighthood or work somewhere in the city or villages. Those born outside of nobility are frowned upon and treated as poorly as the elves, though this has improved greatly since the fall of the Nephus dynasty.
Human mages are rare humans capable of magic. Unlike elves human magic is most powerful when used for destruction and war. Under the rule of the Nephus Dynasty, mages were not allowed to hold titles or position of power other than a king or queens court mage, but Astra Rhea Draconem has since allowed more rights for those born with magic.
Humans are often viewed as a violent and destructive people. Their efforts in expansion have cost the known world and all other living things to struggle.
Some humans are capable of magic, but unlike the elves they view this as an affliction rather than a gift. Labeled Asanathema, mages are treated with suspicion and often falsely accused of treason or other crimes leading to death. Astra Rhea has made great efforts to help mages get fair treatment by all in the recent year.
When it comes to art and beauty few humans have time for such things. They wake early in the day to work and sleep early in the night to do it all again when the sun returns the next day.
Once ruled by the Nephus dynasty. The oldest human family in the known world. Those with Nephus blood are said to someday ascend to godhood though no actual proof of this exists beyond a few old carvings in a cave. This ended with the death's of Nathaniel and Catherine Nephus.
Now the humans are lead by Astra Rhea Draconem, a Dragonborn chosen by the people to rule them until her and Nathaniel's child is old enough to rebuild the Nephus Dynasty to carry on the legacy.
Under the previous leadership humans were encouraged to have hostility with the Elven people, however Rhea has put strict laws in place against violence and discrimination against elves and their property.
The humans view dragons as gods, believing them to be power turned flesh. This began at the start of the Nephus Dynasty when the first king defeated the Elves by taming a mighty dragon and burning down half the land in the name of "birth rights"
This if course has led to humans viewing elves and their culture as lesser than, even though the temples teach that all paths of life are equal.
There is one temple dedicated to the faith known as the Temple Of Serenity, it is located in the heart of the Bronze City.
While dragons are viewed as godly, that doesn't stop them from being hunted by sport. In fact some say that killing a dragon places you on the path to become one in your next life. Mostly it's just an excuse for rich humans to get trophies. Usually young dragons are targeted due to the extreme difficulty fighting an actual mature dragon. In fact a mature full sized dragon has only been slain once in all of human history by Vale Nephus, a young woman who is said to of been the very first Dragonborn.
Elves are the oldest species in the land. All elves are capable of magic and have a deep connection to nature. Elves primarily live in the 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 but can be found all over, previously those living away from their people are poor and have no choice but to turn to servant work in a human Lord or Ladies court but under the rule of Astra Rhea they have found better opportunities.
The Elves have the richest history and culture out of any and all civilizations in all the known world.
With lifespans going well into the thousand year marker many elves find it important to contribute a great amount to the betterment of the world before their time ends. This usually leads to a never ending cultural renaissance, with the most recent development being ceremonies tied to the phases of the moon in connection to the ancient tradition that elven royalty are chosen by unique and rare magic tied to the eclipse.
Elves under the age of 200 are viewed as young and inexperienced teenagers, further so elves under the age of 100 are considered children or infants. All elves under the age of 200 are lovingly known as Bibbles, a term of endearment spanning back to the first elven settlement meaning "New Moon"
Now that their lands have been reclaimed, Elves have become more firm in their mistrust of outsiders. Never again will they be driven from their homes.
Eleven rulers go by the gender neutral titles of Dryiae or Meliad depending on their goal during their time on the Moonstone Throne.
Dryiae is a royal focused on the preservation and betterment of the nature that surrounds the Elven territories. This often leads to the enrichment of nature magics and domestication of new wildlife. This leads to a deep rooted strength in magics and the old ways but the wealth of the people is diminished
Meliad royals are well known in history for the betterment of the people. Under times rules by a Meliad the elf people flourish with new settlements and art. This leads to wealth and expansion at the cost of deforestation and weakened magics
Currently, the elves are ruled by Meliad Cabrina Hexenringe, who ascended the throne after working for years to restore the land that was stolen from them during the great war. The struggles of restoration are far from over, but Cabrina has handled each issue with elegance and grace.
The Elves hold nature as sacred treating the land and it's gifts as their God. However some rare and unique animals are viewed as signs of things to come.
The Albino Stag - An undeniable sign that you are on the right path no matter how dire the situation may be. The Albino Stag has only been noted to have been seen once in all of elven history. An idol was carved in it's image inlaid with rubies for eyes. It sits in display near the Moonstone Throne as a reminder that all must follow their own path. Some say the idol has a deep rooted connection to spirits.
The Alexandrite Frog - a large frog with beautiful reflective purple skins. It's beauty can pull you in but one touch and you'll be poisoned. The elves view her as a sign that someone in your life is poisoning your energy. This toxic person should be removed immediately.
The Blood Wolf - an abnormally large she wolf with blood red fur and white eyes. If seen the elves believe it is a sign that you are beginning a journey of significance or growing in a vital way. Young Elves often claim to see her before exiting the Bibble age.
The Lunar Turtle - a massive water turtle that lives in the sapphire lake near the center of the enchanted woods. Her shell has several birthmarks that resemble the various phases of the moon. Sometimes these marks get covered and the elves read them as a weather chart that is almost always accurate.
The Bog Unicorn - an undead unicorn of myth that has never actually been seen outside of vision. To the elven people this is a sign of death or extinction. Many Elder elves near the ends of their lives claim to see it in dreams, staring at them from the darkness.
The Solar Fox - A small, sneaky creature, her entire body a dancing flame. She runs along the area by the sapphire lake, taunting those who see her to catch her... if they can. She's very fast. But if caught, the fox might offer you a gift.
The Fairy Cat - A small black cat covered in jewels with eyes that change color with every glance. This cat is dangerous, known to convince vulnerable people down a path to self-destruction and chaos, all to claim their soul once the damage is done.
Half-Elves are the fewest of the population. They have no culture or religion of their own.
Many Half-Elves find it hard to fit in anywhere. Humans see them as elves and elves see them as humans. This often leads to mistreatment from all sides.
However, it was discovered that The Nephus Dynasty was built on a lie and it's lineage was half-elf since the end of the Great War which gave them some sway in the human community in the recent year.
Rumors in both the Human and Elven territories say that a Half-Elf rebellion could be possible, the target being Sea Snake Bay to hold as a independent territory and home land of alf Half-Elves.
In terms of lifespan and capabilities, Half-Elves find themselves rolling the dice on how long they get to live. Some live half that of a Elf's lifespan while some live only half as long as a human. It entirely depends on the strength of blood on each side of their parentage. That being said, all Half-Elves have the capability to use minor elemental and nature magics
The 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗻 are largely nomadic people other than returning to 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘆𝗮'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁, the real home of the people. They are known and feared by the humans due to their relentless raids on under guarded villages along the rivers and coasts.
The beasts are regarded as savages by the human government while they are seen as distant ally's of the elves. Rarely do the beast clan befriend humans to join their ranks or visit their home.
When one becomes apart of the beast clan they go through a deeply changing and secret ritual involving sacrifice and an animal tied deeply to the spirit. They guard the secrets of this ritual with their lives. Speaking of it after you've gone through it is a crime punishable by exile or even death.
The 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 are people who were once beast clan but left that life for their own pursuits. Each 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 is different as they do not follow groups, clans, or packs.
The 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗻 are lead by raid chiefs outside of 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘆𝗮'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁, but the Silver Flame is the true guidance of the people. A pit of silver fire in the long house that shimmers like a freshly forged sword, it is impossible to extinguish. Elders of the beast clan use local herbs to make tea over the flames. The tea grants them visions which are used to guide the future.
The 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 have no leadership other than their own morals and ideas. They follow no laws but their own or the cities they live in. No two 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 govern themselves the same.
The 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗻 do not believe in gods but instead believe that nurturing the animal spirit inside of you is the closest thing to divine you can do. They regard self-care as the most important thing you can do.
Although they don't have gods they do believe that the first member of the beast clan, Freya, will someday return in the form of a beautiful ice dragon to deliver them to the stars.... though these days most just view that as a comforting children's story
The 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 no longer follow the legends or teachings of the clans or the silver flames. While some still believe in the origin of Freya, they typically do not believe she will rise from the dead to usher in some new era. Each 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 believes in something of their own. What that could be depends entirely on who they are and what they've decided to follow.
Little is actually known about dragonborns other than the fact that there have never been more than 3 or 4 at a time and they have always been female with the exception of Rhea who does not much associate herself with gender.
Beyond this all that is known is that they have some strange connection to the dragons that allows them to befriend and even ride the beasts with ease.
