Bring the Funny (S1) - Top 12 - Power Rankings

Aug 21, 2019 by zorbo678
As the Comedy Clash is now over and the fans will now be making decisions as opposed to the judges, I feel like it’s a good idea to get a bit of a refresher and rank the chances of the top 12 to win.

12. Morgan Jay (Variety): Out of the remaining acts, I feel like Morgan is the most forgettable. Not that he’s not entertaining, but in the group full of strong acts, all of which are funny, Morgan doesn’t really have a defining characteristic. Even in the singing category, I feel like Lewberger is much more memorable.

11. Matt Rife (Stand-Up): Matt is very funny, no question. But the amount of strong stand-ups left in the competition almost leaves him lost in the shuffle. Acts like Tacarra Williams and Erica Rhodes are SO strong, it almost feels like he’s just another generic comedian at times.

10. Jarred Fell (Variety): I honestly love Jarred, but I know how vengeful America can be when it comes to these shows. He knocked out Randy Feltface, who was arguably the most popular act of the season up until that point. And as unique as his comedic magic is, I don’t know if America will forgive him for it.

9. Ali Siddiq (Stand-Up): Same problem here with Ali as with Matt, although definitely to a lesser extent. Ali has a story, he has a very strong ac, but his comedy isn’t quite up to par, imo, versus the other stand-ups in the competition.

8. JK Studios (Sketch): Okay, I love all of the sketch acts, but from a realistic perspective, i feel like JK is weaker then the others remaining. I love their topical jokes, but acts like The Valleyfolk and Chris & Paul Show don’t have to rely on them to make their jokes funny. I highly look forward to their next act, but I’m not sure they have a good chance of winning.

7. Michael Longfellow (Stand-Up): I’d argue that Michael is the strongest male stand-up left in the competition. He’s very funny, and his jokes seem to connect with a lot of people. I think Michael’s big struggle is his lack of an identity within the competition. Looking at someone like Erica Rhodes, you instantly know her brand, where as Michael just isn’t there yet.

6. The Chris & Paul Show (Sketch): I love their style, it’s absolutely brilliant. They have a brand, they are popular with the audience. All that’s left is one BIG performance to fully bring me on board. I’d say they are a dark horse to win right now.

5. Frangela (Sketch): I’d say they are the best well-known act in the competition, which means they don’t really have to establish themselves as a brand in comparison to everyone else. However, that also comes with backlash, as I’ve seen plenty of people argue about “professionals” competing in these types of programs. If they can escape that, I’d argue they are another dark horse winner pick.

4. Erica Rhodes (Stand-Up): I love Erica. Quite frankly, her Open Mic was my absolute favorite out of everyone this season. However, she faded a bit into the background during Comedy Clash, at least to me. This might be because her episode was the middle one, but I still think she has a very good chance to win the whole thing.

3. Lewberger (Variety): My personal favorite act this season, Lewberger is phenomenal. They are a unique act, easily identifiable, and had one of my favorite performances during Comedy Clash. However, the one thing standing in their way is if someone doesn’t like the sing-song comedy that they bring. But personally, very good chance of winning imo.

2. Tacarra Williams (Stand-Up): Definitely the strongest stand-up in the competition, Tacarra has made everyone laugh both times she was on stage. She has a identity, she sticks to it brilliantly, and her jokes are hysterical. I honestly am not sure if she or Valleyfolk are stronger in terms of winning, so I just ranked them according to my personal opinion.

1. The Valleyfolk (Sketch): Oh my god. Can these peeps get their own show? I have never in my entire life laughed harder than watching their Comedy Clash performance. I’m in love with their style, the theatricality of it, everything. I personally prefer them to Tacarra Williams, but quite frankly both are hysterical.

As of right now, we don’t know the line-up for Week One of the semis, but there are a few locks I expect to move through regardless. However, this is just my personal opinion.
