Celeste’s Music Game - Week 2 RESULTS

Jan 20, 2021 by xCelestex
Good evening! It is time to reveal the results for week 2.

I must say the bar was high this week, you all stepped up your game. I have enjoyed the nostalgia ride, but it is time to jump back into 2021 and get down to business.

Week 1 winner BlahBlahBlahBlah had to choose 1 person to steal 5 points from, and they have chosen to steal from Drewds. Tough luck, miss Drewds!  But don’t hate the player, hate the twisty game.

Now it is time for the results! Here is my ranking, in order. A chart WILL come, I’ll work on it tonight.

Chic
Lady Gaga - “Poker Face” (14 points)

While this might be an easy submission, I can’t live with myself without putting this first. This was released when I was like 10, and it was the first pop song I really loved before I started exploring the other pop icons. Just Dance might be Gaga’s first hit single, but Poker Face is where Gaga won me over. Congrats, MBD!

That means #Chic is the winner of this week. You have 24 hours to decide who you want to steal 5 points from.

NewNightmare7  (13 points)
Rihanna - “Umbrella”

One of the best pop songs ever. This is where RiRi came for BLOOD, and pop music was never the same again. This is still fresh to this day. Well done.

David2560 (12 points)
Fergie - “Big Girls Don’t Cry (Personal)”

I love this song SO much. It’s so raw. Fergies best song hands down. Great work.

Jenii_Valenta (11 points)
Amy Winehouse - “Tears Dry On Their Own”

Sloppy Little Valenta, you struck me by surprise. I expected you to post a Gaga song in 0.5 seconds, yet here you are with this underrated gem of a song. A voice gone to soon, Amy’s legacy lives on forevermore.

Kmartt (10 points)
Britney Spears - “Toxic”
One of Brits biggest hits! I don’t know if I could accept this round without this being posted. The music video and song itself is a trademark in pop culture...Well done!

ItsAustin (9 points)
Fergie - “Glamorous”
Yesss, I’m so happy to see Fergie here. She’s amazing, and I loved this song a lot! Fergie is much better without Black Eyed Peas even though they had bops.

BB5lover (8 points)
Ciara/Missy Elliott - One, Two Step
A bop. This makes me wanna go clubbing again...Which will happen next in like 2040. Ciara is a hit or miss for me, but I LOVE Missy!

Ilysuiteheart (7 points)
Kylie Minogue - “Love At First Sight”
Kylieeee. So underrated, she deserved to be massive in the US too. This is a pop gem from the 2000’s, well done!

BlahBlahBlahBlah (6 points)
Mariah Carey - “Touch My Body”
This is a cute bop! And that’s pretty much it for me tbh, I don’t mind it if it comes on,  but it doesn’t blow me away. Mariah has a impressive discography and this sort of just falls somewhere inbetween.

Memphis_Grizzlies (5 points)
Alicia Keys - “Fallin’”
Unexpected. Alicia Keys is super talented. While she might not be my first choice for a 2000’s pop girl artist, this is a classic and she serves vocals.

Drewds (4 points)
Beyoncé/Jay-Z - “Crazy In Love”

The 50 shades version is sooo much better. This is a classic though, I won’t sell it short. Beyoncé got better during her next 2 eras.

BOTTOM 3:

That means our bottom 3 this round is Keefe, Zachbbs and Thirteen. For one of you, the adventure in Casa de Leste will be over very shortly. The bar was extremely  high this week, and the 3 of you just didn’t meet the level the others did.

The first person safe is...

Thirteen (3 points)
Nelly Furtado - “Turn Off The Light”

Wow 13, you sure know how to surprise me. I wouldn’t expect you to post early Nelly Furtado material. I love Nelly, but this doesn’t make me Whoa! (Pun intended). It’s just a cute little song I guess, not that special.

The second person safe is...

Keefe (2 points)
Kelly Clarkson - “Miss Independent”

Kelly is a great vocalist and she served several bops during her prime after American Idol. This is good,  but I find it a bit dated and overplayed now. Kelly has better songs.

That means....

Zachbbs
Britney Spears - “Ooh Ooh Baby”

Zach, what were you thinking? I was rooting for you. With an ocean full of great songs, even other Britney album tracks, THIS was your choice? It’s not a bad song, but if I ranked Blackout, this would not be high. Pack your bags and good luck in the battleback, BITCH!

The rest of you, stay tuned for the week 3 theme which is coming up very shortly.
