nobody can ever TRULY beat Janelle's competition wins record because she won 9 competitions in a matter of 9 weeks, whereas the show nowadays lasts closer to 13 weeks long, giving people a whole extra 4 weeks to beat her record, and yet people still fail to do it
So unless someone wins 10 competitions in 9 weeks, then it will never be on par with Janelle's record
I feel like the quality of the competitions were kind of easier back in those days as well. There was no wall sits, their 'endurance comps' were stuff like sit in a pile of dirt, stand in a glass house, sit in a bathtub as we pour nasty stuff in it...I feel like the competitions now (while there are a bit of luck) do have a bit more of a mental/physical aspect to them as opposed to what they used to have.
jaybirdnifty if you are using the pressure cooker to support your point that old endurance competitions were somehow easier or less representative of the word endurance then you are DEAD WRONG. The competition lasted FOURTEEN hours and required 100x more mental endurance than some of the cup running/contraption "endurance" comps that the producers purposely make harder to shorten the time they run which then tests strength RATHER than endurance.
