And when I initially tried to compare the two of them, I thought that I was trying to create a non-existent connection. Then I looked into the life story of Tiffany Haddish and I learned a story of a strong, resilient woman who truly resonates with the story of the song from the beginning of her fascinating yet tragic life story to the present day. If you’ll bear with me, I gave a lyrical rundown of it and I’ll mark the lyrics in red that help emphasis the point.

When I think of Sandra Oh, I think that she is obviously the most powerful and influential person on the planet. Very few people, let alone musicians, come close to her power, but Miss RINA SAWAYAMA does with her seminal hit classic "Alterlife".

This refers to the roles that Sandra used to portray before she scored her successful role as Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy - she would always play the quirky sidekick that didn't have much development, "A girl with no responsibility", and this became a form of typecasting for Sandra, or, "the armour that [she] hid behind".
"Why are you so scared of falling?"
This refers to Killing Eve, in which Sandra's character, Eve, falls in love with Villanelle, and she's scary.
"Why do you hold on? Stop mourning"
This refers to Grey's Anatomy, where everyone dies, and so mourning happens, but Sandra left, therefore she stopped mourning.
This is my song for her because she did boxing, helped exiles, and also was bi + very accepting of her LGBT+ back when it probably would’ve been very difficult to be as a prominent figure
After the song of the year was shockingly SNATCHED out of my hands by the grace of t_brown47, we had to settle for white woman actress Alicia Silverstone. Now, I'm sure none of us really KNEW who Alicia Silverstone was. I'm sure I didn't. So I did a little bit of research and decided that this hit best represents who she is as an individual.
You may be thinking? How does this woman represent a generic white girl. And you'd be fair in thinking that, I had the same assumption.

When I managed to actually dig deep into Alicia Silverstone's history, I found out that she, just like Pussy Riot is actually an activist! Who would have thought? From being the sexiest vegetarian by PETA in 2004, to setting up a sanctuary for rescued pets in LA, she takes all the stops.
