That kindness would hurt me. That kindness wouldn’t get me far. That kindness would make me keep getting walked over.

All those things might be true, but I don’t believe that. Because at the end of the day it’s kindness and compassion that brings people together, and honestly, if I do get hurt sometimes along the way, I’ve learned to be okay with it.
